Merciful powers! Can't the administration that Teddy thrust upon us do a single thing to bring one yawp ot approval irom uyster ardice and a short-sighted business policy. "We, therefore, urge upon all well- disposed citizens to ponder well their attitude in this matter and act in harmony with both the moral and commercial interests of Lincoln. Ir the saloon element under the dis guise of a business organization per sists in reopening the question which has been so fairly settled in the last two spring campaigns, we will do all in our power to frustrate their plans for the sake of our homes, our schools, our university and In the in terest of continued prosperity. "In analyzing some of the state ments of the Business Men's assoc- elation it appears to us that all that is new in their platform is the cre ation in our city of fifteen retail sa loons and four wholesale liauor houses. ""We would call the attention of our citizens to the fact that every plank relative to commercial prosperity ad vocated by the platform of the busi ness men's league is now and has been championed by the advocates of the no-saloon policy. ' We believe the men who are agi tating the question are endeavoring to draw the attention of the public from the real issue to that of a broad er commercial policy. The object of this movement can indicate but one thing, namely, to bring back the sa loons into our city. BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL. Charter is Here and the Council in Working Order. The Building Trades Council has received its charter from the Amer ican Federation of Labor, and Is now ready for official business. Every de partment of the building trades is represented by active delegates, and there is an utter absence of the wrangling that has too often marred relations in times past. The enthu siasm of the delegates i3 marked, antf results are confidently expected this season. Naturally the organization of the council was aggravating to the union smashing organization of business men in Lincoln, and there was not lacking a few card carriers who viewed the matter from the stand point of the boses. But all such were speedily squelched when the time came for definite action as regards the permanent organization of the coun cil. Speaking of the building trades re minds us. When that university building was gutted by fire a month or so ago the directors of the Labor Temple -immediately offered the re gents the use of the rooms during the day for class purposes. This kind offer was reciprocated recently by the regents picking up all the "scab" building tradesmen they could find to repair the damaged building. afllteflie Were If you have never tried Sox- order 1 flavo wins favors package today.
