the deficiency it la the custom to draw
upon other rice producing eountrlea,
notably the Freooh colony of Cochin
China,

than one hundred Variolic are grown,
and by planting Alternately an early

eessfully in the Philippine archi
pelago, but the plantation are not
nearly o well managed a they might
