C. D. Cas per of David City was made chairman of the meeting, and Warwick Saunders of Platte county secretary. The question was freely discussed by p-inent mem bers of all parties, and was finally agreed to elect an "executive committee to be composed of four men, one from each party, whose duty it would be to appoint committees in every county in the state to push the work of the organi zation. Gov. Holcomb was elected to represent the Populists of the state, Bryan the Democrats, Low the republi cans, and Hardy the Prohibitionists. These men will go to work immediately to see if they can not get everybody who believes in the free and unlimited coinage of silver at 16 to 1 to work together in harmony. Father's Domestic Headship, Dr. Charles H. Parkhurst, D. D., In November Ladies' Home Journal writes concerning "The Father's Domestic Headship:" While, perforce ot ordi nary circumstances, the father's duties will hold him considerably apart from the contacts of home life, yet what ever successes he may achieve outside will not atone for any failure on his part to regard his home as the prime sphere of his obligation and the point around which his devotements will cluster In distinguished earnestness and constancy. Whatever he may have achieved in his art, trade, profession or other engagement, the man who stands at the hed of a household has been in the broad sense of the term a failure if he has not been a true hus band and a wise, strong and devoted father. It cannot be a successful home where the mother looks after the chil dren and the father looks after his busi ness. The most productive services rendered are always personal, and any amount of exertion expended outside in providing for the necessities of the home will not take the place of that tultional ministry which comes only by the direct and continuous contact' of father with child. However complete a woman may be as mother, there are qualities of character which the fath er will communicate to his children that the mother will be less able to do as well as less intended to do. Much of the same policy was still displayed in the official receptions held in the Tuileries. In tbe first place, the domestic life of the Bonapartes was carefully accented by the presence of the first consul's wife and sisters with their families. No mistresses were ever allowed to flaunt themselves in public under either the consulate or the empire. The same standards of con jugal fidelity were to be supposed valid in the first family of the land as in those of the masses. Then, too, there was displayed a genial familiarity, sometimes even brusque and rude, like that prevalent among the middle class the good-fellowship which they ad mired above every other quality. Of course, there must be ceremonial, and on high occasions the great officers of state with the diplomatic corps were arrayed In a circle like that ceremony in courts from immemorial times. But these latter personages, grand as they were, bad to put up with much the same treatment from the first consul while making his rounds as that which his relatives, his state and military of ficials, and the plain people of France generally received at his hands. JOHNSON HAD ONLY ONE CHANCE TO SAVE HER LIFE Vow Sots the Work of Three Average Women. from the Ledger, Mtzlco, Mo. i Mrs. Lucinda, Johnson lives in Mexico, Mo. The" Ledger has just succeeded in obtaining an interview with her. This is the substance of her story: . In the winter of '92 and '93 Mrs. John son was, like many of her friends, at tacked with la grippe. Yes, we've most of ns had it, and bmow its wrecking powers, when it gets in its work on a good constitution. , Well, Mrs. Johnson, along about Christmas, was prostrated. All the medical aid here in the city only "brought her around," as an "herbs and roots" female sympathizer expressed it, and she was left in a debilitated and ex hausted condition and experienced a Con stant pain in her left side. She was wholly unfit for her domestic duties and was unable to do any work about the house, even after tbe la grippe fever and its characteristic sickness had left her. She is a consistent member of the church, and one Sunday, between the Sunday school and church services, being barely able to be conveyed there, she heard of a miracle that Dr. William's Pink Pills for Pale People had performed and she re solved to try them. It was like the drowning man grabbing at the last straw. It was her last and only chance to save her life. She procured one box of these pills from the south side drug gists, French & Garrett, in this city, and by the time she had used half the box she and her watchful friends noticed a marked improvement in her condition. Taking the rest of tbe box of pills and one more box she recovered remarkably in an ex ceedingly short time. Before she had used the first box she resumed her house hold duties and has been steadily at work for the last eighteen months. It took only a few boxes, perhaps five or six, to entirely cure her. Since then she was attacked by rheumatism, caused from careless exposure, but by at once taking the Pink Pills for Pale People, she drove that painful and dreadful malady away. She told the reporter that when ever she felt that she was going to be ill, she took one or two of the pills and she never got sick. Mrs. Johnson is perfectly healthy now and promises to live to a ripe old age. Her friends have never ceased to talk about her almost miracu lous recovery and are loud in their praise of the Pink Pills for rale l'eople, and all who have tried them say they would uot be without them nnder any conditions. Dr. William's Pink Pills are not looked upou as a patent medicine, but rather as a, prescription. An analysis of their properties shows that they contain, in oondensed form, all the elements neces sary to give new life and richness to the blood and restore shattered nerves, They are an unfailing specific for such diseases as locomotor ataxia, partial paralysis, St. Vitus' dunce, sciatica, neuralgia, rheumatism, nervous head ache, the after effects of la grippe, palpi tation of the heart, pale and sallow com plexions, and that tired feeling resulting from nervous prostration, all .diseases re suiting from vitiated humorsin the blood, such as scrofula, chronic erysipelas, etc. They are also a specific for troubles pecu liar to females, such ns suppressions, ir regularities and all forms of weakness. Thep build up the blood, and restore the glow of health to pale and sallow cheeks. They are for sale by nil druggists, or may be had by mail from Dr. William's Medicine Company, Schenectady, N. Y., for 50c. per box, or six boxes for $2.50. All drnfffrlste tell Dr. Miles' Nerve Piasters !AN EXTRAORDINARY OFFER!! We want luuo more active agents before July lit.
