TBI AID DEGREE
Many inquiries coma about the Aid De
gree which shows that many do not un
derstand iti relation to the national F.
A. A I. U. Section II, of article YII o!
the National Constitution reads as fol'
lows:
"Sec. II. A co-operative degree was es
tablisbed by the supreme conncil at In
dianaDolis in loVl. known astbeJNation
al Alliance Aid, and the supreme council
at Topeka in 1894 directed that the
charter and constitution be so changed
as to bring the degree directly in harmony
with and under the control o! the su
preme council."
The charter has been amended and the
action of the Indianapolis and Topeka
councils has been ratified by the Raleigh
council, which has ordained that the na
tional Alliance Aid Is established as a
regular degree of the N. F. A. & I. U., un
der these rules:
1st The National Alliance Aid shall
be managed by a board of nine (9) di
rectors, five (5) of whom shall be the ex
eutive committee of the N. F. A. & I. U.,
and the others (4) shall be elected by the
beneficiary members.
2nd. The guardian shall be an officer
of the supreme council, without a vote,
and no mileage or other compensation
for attending the supreme council.
3rd. The N. F. A. A I. U. shall never
assume any financial responsibility for
the N. A. Aid, nor shall the N. A. Aid ever
be in any manner financially responsible
for the N. F. A. & 1. U., except for such
percentage of its annual receipts as may
be agreed upon yearly by the executive
committee of the N. F. A. & I. U. and the
board of directors of the N. A. Aid.
4th. The officers of the N. A. Aid shall
report each year to the supreme council,
and, whenever requested, to theexecutive
committee and to the annual meeting of
the state Alliances when the degree may
be established.
5th. No one shall be admitted to the
N. A. Aid who is not a member in good
standing in the N. F. A. & I. U., and the
officers of the N. A. Aid shall use all dili
gence to keep them in good standing,
and they shall collect the national per
capita tax from members who have be
come disconnected with the sub or state
Alliance, and remit it eemi-aunually to
the national secretary treasurer.
Sec. III. Organizers of the National
Alliance Aid Degree, who have been duly
commissioned as such, may admit per
sons to membership in the Alliance for
the purpose of joining the Aid Degree,
when they have received authority from
the state Alliances of the res pective states:
Provided, That a lodge of the National
Alliance Aid Degree, duly organized,
shall have power to initiate members and
maintain a subordinate Alliance in con
noction with the Aid Degree: Provided
further, That no person otherwise ineli
gible shall be so admitted."
I have been commissioned to organize
Aid Degree lodges anywhere in the state
or to pppoint organizers and will answer
inquiries or send Aid constitutions to all
applicants.
NEW RITUALS.
Under this head we announced that we
expected new rituals soon, but a letter
from the national secretary says they
concluded to use the old ones a while yet
and as it seems all the difference in the
new edition is the addition of the Aid
Degree ritual, it will not be necessary
to make a change all around as we

' f Best Way to Sell Wool.
Chicago, III., April 26, 1895.
Another wool season is now at hand
and one of the problems which no doubt
confronts our readers who have wool is
where and how to dispose of it to the
best advantage possible. Like all farm
produce, it must find its way to the large
markets for distribution and the fewer
hands it passes through before this dis
tribution takes place, the better it is
for the wool grower, and the more money
be realizes ior-his wool. Such being .the
caso it is certainly for the best interests
of the wool growers to ship their .wool
direct to the large markets or point of
distribution, in order that they might
realize the most money possible for it.
The necessity for doing this at present is
much greater than if wool were bringing
a good price, and when the profit to be
gained by the grower of wool shipping
direct to the market is brought to his at
tention as is intended by this article, we
think that he wist take advantage of it.
There cau be but one possible obstacle
in the way, that is confidence in securing
the right kind of a house to receive and
sell his wool to the best advantage possi
ble, and one which will remit his money
promptly.
Confidence is certainly the foundation
of all business transactions.
There are good reliable houses in the
different wool markets to whom growers
can ship in confidence that they will be
fairly and honestly dealt with, and that
their interests will be fully protected.
One of these houses is Summers, Morri
son & Co., Commission Merchants, 174
South Water st, Chicago. This house
has a very large trade in wool, in fact
they have revolutionized the wool trade
to some extent by making prompt sale
of all wool they receive andsendintrquick
returns to the shippers. When they first
stated a few years ago that they intended
to handle the wool trade in this way,
older houses in the business said it was
impossible to do so and do justice to the
shippers: but this firm has demonstrated
that it was possible as their numerous
shippers nave testified.
They have been handling wool in this
way for the last five years and each year
their trade increases largely. They hold
numerous testimonials from those who
have shipped them wool and they are all
unanimous in their verdict that the re
turns have been prompt and satisfactory.

CYCLONE.
The season of cyclones is here again
and all should be protected when it cau be
done with as little expense as it has been
to members of the Nebraska Cyclone Co,
(only four dollars for the last three years
for the first f 1,000 and 20 cents on each
100 additional.) We have made but
one assessment and that was ten cents
per $100.
HAIL.
This seems to be a year for hail also,
and as our present plans are as near per
fect as the law will permit, we can give all
insurance at as near actual cost as any
one could wish.
FIRE AND LIOHT.NI.NO.
In the fire department of the Nebraska
Mutual Fire and Cyclone Co., we are yet
short about thirty applications. We
had hoped to have the f 100,000 applied
for by May lit but we are doomed to
disappointment. If any one wants to
help the cause along let him send to us
at once for instructions. Of course all
will understand that we are not asking
for an application from any one in
any territory covered by a local fire
company. In turn we ask the officers of
all local companies to co-operate with us
in securing members for the cyclone de
partment. Several have complied with a
good line of risks, others have not sent
inone,not even their own. Wedo not want
the fees in the fire department until we get
the 1100,000 applied for, we will then
give notice to all applicants to pay the
fee and get their policies. It seems to us
that this is the cheapest way to orga
nize a company. Hence I hope to hear
from many within the next to weeks.
We want an agent in every neighbor
hood for cyclone and hail insurance, and
in unoccupied territory we want to write
fire also.
Of course times are hard, but at such
times you need protection the most.
