The Press has been devoting con siderable space for thepast two days trying to explain to the public how it came about that Judge Chapman was defeated. Their excuses are varied and rather laughable when every one realizes that the voters had become tired of the judge aud by their ballots retired him to private life. There is no excuse to offer for no one is to blame but the judge himself, and the public knows, as does the Press, the cause for the retirement, but as the battle is over, the slain removed and things put in shape for another battle, "let the dead past bury the dead."
