Funeral of
Veteran Railroad
Man is Held
. W. F. Brissey of Burlington, la., Laid
to Rest Here Was Missouri Paci
fic Employee Many Years.
From Monday's Dally
This morning at 9:30 at the Sat
tler funeral home at Fourth and Vine
streets, funeral services were held
for William F. Brissey, 83. of Bur
lington. Iowa, a veteran employee of
the Missouri Pacific railroad.
Dr. H. G. McClusky conducted the
services.
Mr. Brissey had not been ill long
as he had been in very good health
and Just a short time ago had return
ed to Burlington from a visit at Lin
coin and here in Nebraska with rel
atives. ,
Mr. Brissey was a resident of
Plattsmouth for a great many years
and it was here that his family large
ly' grew up, he coming here with
the extension of the Missouri Pacific
railroad from Union north to Oma
ha, and serving as the boss of the
maintenance of ways workers of the
railroad here for years.
In later years Mr. Brissey has
made his home at Burlington Iowa,
and where a year ago Mrs. Brissey
passed away.
Mr. and Mrs. Brissey were parents
of a large family and some ten of
the children are left to mourn the
passing of the father, they being
Andrew V. Brissey, Lincoln; R. B.
Brissey. Brock; George Brissey, Ma
toon. Illinois; Mrs. Myra Crabill,
Lincoln; Frank Brissey, ?,Ioline, Illi-

Albert, Low, James Brissey and Mrs.
Marie Brown of Burlington, Iowa.
VISITS AT LAMONI
COUNTY COURT PROCEEDINGS
After spending last week In La-
moni, Iowa with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Kline, Mrs. Joseph Mrasek,
wife of the Cass county sheriff, re
turned to her home. Mr. and Mrs
Mrasek. accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Kline left for Lamoni Satur
dav. August 19. Mr. Mrasek and
the Klines just spent the week end
there while Mrs. Mrasek remained
for the week. During her time there
Mrs. Mrasek also had the pleasure of
visiting with her sister, Mrs. Paul
Cochran of Bethany, Missouri. En
route home Mrs. Mrasek stopped at
Shenandoah, Iowa where she spent
some time visiting with her sister.

In the county court Monday Judge
A.. H. Duxbury was busy in hearing
a number of cases that . had been
pending his return from California.
Application was filed in the mat
ter of the guardianship of Luella
Ketch, incompetent, of Nehawka. and
in which Mable Lewis, daughter of
the applicant. was named as
guardian.
Mrs. Paula Barker was appointed
guardian of Paul Barker, minor. This
was to permit settlement of damages
as the result of an auto accident.
Two appeal bonds were filed in
the court in the matter of the estate
of Byron Golding, deceased and J. F.
Wortman. deceased. Both of these
rases are being appealed to the dis
trict court.
M0LLIE VETESNIK VISITS HERE
Mrs. Frank Vetesnik of Edgemont,
South Dakota arrived in Plattsmouth
Monday morning to spend a two-day
visiting period in this city while en
route to Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs.
Vetesnik will leave tomorrow morn
ing for Des Moines to visit with her
son, Joseph, as well as attend the
Iowa state fair which is now in
progress. Before returning to her
home in Edgemont. Mrs. Vetesnik
will spend some time in Omaha visit
Ing with the Anton W. Vetesnik fam
ily, Mr. Vetesnik being her brother
in-law.
VISIT IN CITY
En route to Hennlng, Minnesota,
Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Tinder of Kene
saw, Nebraska stopped for a visit
Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Knorr. Other Sunday guests
at the Knorr home included Mr. and
Mrs. Carl H. Panzer.
RETURNS TO OMAHA
A week-end guest in Plattsmouth
was Mervin Bartek, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Bartek of Omaha. The
young man was a guest of his grand
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Born,
as well as the Albert Schiessl and
Arthur Sprieck families.
HERE FROM OMAHA
Mr. and Mrs. Earl F. Hassler and
family of Omaha were here Sunday
to visit at the home of Mrs. William
Hassler, Sr., and MJss Anna Hassler.
MRS. SMITH ILL
Mrs. Walter II. Smith was 111
Monday at her home in this city but
is reported today as being somewhat
better.
George Comer of Union was in the
city Tuesday for a few hours and
while here was a caller at the Jour
nal to renew his subscription. Mr.
Comer with his family had been in
Omaha for a short time.
