School Days
Drawing Near
for Students
Preliminary Football Work and Re
turn of Superintendent Devoe
Points to Opening Day.
Time is fast approaching for the
commencement of the school activ
ities of the 1939-40 term and the
youngsters can count now the short
weeks that mark the span until the
school bells' chiming notes call the
students to their studies.
One of the most unfailing signs
of the coming of school days and
fall was seen when a group of the
high school boys were to be seen
carrying footballs out to athletic
park to start in the preliminary lim
bering up of the muscles and getting
the old booting eye working for the
start of the season.
Superintendent L. S. Devoe, who
has been taking special work on his
master's degree at the University of
Colorado, has also returned to get
the work of opening school lined up,
assignment of teachers made and the
general plan to start the school off
promptly in September. Superintend
ent Devoe is at his office each
morning now and will be glad to
have any of the parents consult with
him as to school problems and their
children.
Sunday guests at the Littleton
Rethards home were their children,
Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Eethards and
family of Allerton, Iowa, and Mrs.
Cecil Ramsey of Van Wort, Iowa.
They left for their homes today.
