Mrs. Bessie M. Mickey, 69, member of one cf the prominent- .Nebraska families of the central part of the state, died Saturday evening at the Masonic Home where she has been a resident since ' March 15th' of this year. Mrs. Mickey was born on January 22. 1871. at Ncwberg, Pennsylvania, hut has spent much of her lifetime in Nebraska in and near Osceola, where she was a prominent and ac tive leader in the community life and i lady loved and honored by a large riri-le of friends. She was the widow of Oliver K. Mickey, long a very active figure in I he Masonic circles of the state and vho was for years a member of the noard of control of the Nebraska Ma foric Home. Mr. Mickey preceded his wife in death June 6, 1933 and since that time Mrs. Mickey made her home in Osceola until her failing health made necessary her constant care and at which time she came to the Masonic Home. Ex-Governor John H. Mickey of Nebraska, was a brother-in-law of I.Irs. Mickey. Mrs. Mickey was a very devout number of the Methodist church and in her long residence in Osceola was active in all of the social and relig ious activities of the church. She was also a member of Osceola chap trr No. 24. Order of the East?rn Star. She was admitted to the Home here from Osceola lodge No. 65, A. F. & A. M. There is surviving a son. Arthur B. Mickey, of- Laramie. Wyoming, and a brother, A. D. Detwciler of Millard. Nebraska. FUNERAL OF MRS. MICKEY Funeral services were held on L Tuesday for Mrs. Eessie M. Mickey, C9. who died at the Nebraska Ma sonic Home here on Saturday. She was the widow of O. E. Mickey, well known Nebraska Mason and a sister-in-law of the late Governor John H. Mickey. The services were held at the First Methodist church of which the de ceased was long a member and the sermon given by Rev. Taylor, of Peru, an old friend and former pas tor. The Horton funeral home of this citv assisted in the services. WILL VISIT IN WYOMING Mrs. Robert Haight and Mrs. Wil liam Harrow, North Carolina guests of their cousin. Miss Mabel White for many weeks, left Monday morn ing for Laramie. Wyoming to spend an indefinite period of time visiting and vacationing. Ilowevr. following their tour in the northwest, they will return to this city w'u-e they intend to stay a few more weeks with their cousin before returning to North Carolina. Miss Florence Khoades, Mrs. Jack Reno, Mrs. Mart Sheldon and son, Mrs. Gochenour and family. Miss Genevieve Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hughson and fam ily. Prizes were given for games p'ay d and were won by Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. Reno. Mrs. Gochopour intends to leave tonight to take up residence In the western part of the state. Junior Legion Auxiliary The Junior American Legion Auxil iary's monthly meeting was held at the home of Miss Ruth Westover on Friday, July 14. Due to absence of the president, the ice president, Miss Shirley Walling, conducted the meeting. Schneider mo tored to Tarkip, Missouri, on Mon day to enjpy a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Foster Patterson, and their family. The date was the tenth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Patterson and in honor of the happy event Mr. and Mrs'. Schneider and Mr. and Mrs. Patterson enjoyed a dinner party at Essex, Iowa. Celebrates Birthday Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Kruger a ad children and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kra ger and family were in Kansas City, Missouri. Sunday where they were guests for the day with relatives. The members of the party enjoyed a fine birthday dinner which had been arranged in honor of the 80th anni versary of Mrs. Clara "Davis, mother of Mr. Kruger. The date also marked the anniversary of Glen Kruger. While at Kansas City the party ai&o spent some time visiting at the home of Mr. and Mr.,. John Kruger, the former a brother of H. L. Kruger. B ambler's Honor Captain The Rambler's patrol of the local Girl Scouts gave a picnic supper and a handkerchief shower last evening at the home of Miss Ruth Westover. The occasion was tendered in honor of Mrs. James Mauzy, who served as patrol captain for a long period of time. Ten of the members were pres ent to shower and honor Mrs. Mauzy. The picnic supper was served at 6:30 p. m. and following a social hour, the girls, accompanied by Mrs. Mauzy attended the W. A. Gibbs shows in the Pollock pasture on Chi cago aventie. After spending a short time at the carnival the group re turned to the Mauzy drug store where light refreshments were served. The girls are looking forward to a week of enjoyment at Camp Brewster, which will be held the last week in July. The group present last evening to honor Mrs. Mauzy, who is retiring from her present position as patrol captain, were Margaret Fricke, Mar garet Ttca. Alice Rea, Mary Ann Win scot. C. Cotner on South Sixth street was the scene of a very much enjoyed and jolly dinner party, a real Nebraska fried chicken dinner being served by Mrs. Cotner, as a compliment to R. Foster Patterson, instructor of history and the Platts mouth boys who are students at that college. Besides Mr. Patterson the" guests were Wayne Falk, Stuart Por ter. Kenneth Armstrong, Joe Case and their host, Donald Cotner. Florene Duda Honored Mrs. Michael Duda entertained at a birthday party at her home Tues day afternoon in honor of her daugh ter, Florene who observed the pass ing of her seventh birthday. Eight guests, including the Duda children, were present, and many were unable to attend. The children spent the time amus ing themselves by indulging in a number of games. During the after noon Florene had the pleasure of opening and displaying the gifts that she had. received from her guests. The party climaxf-d with the serving of cake and ice cream by the guest of honor's mother, Mrs. Florence Duda. The birthday cake, with seven glowing tandles. was baked by the guest of honor's great- j uncle. John Bloom of Chicago and was brought to this city by her great-grandfather, Mike Warga.
