Cedar Creek
Resident Dies
Erought to Community When a Child
and Has Lived There Since 111
for Several Years.
Joseph Brodbeck, 68, a resident of
Cedar Creek and community for the
Si-eater part of' his lifetime, died
Wednesday night at the University
hospital at Omaha where he has been
for a ehort time. Air. Brodbeck, a
bachelor, had lived alone for many
years, and has been suffering from
rheumatism and a few days ago had
apparently suffered a stroke which
made necessary his being taken to
Omaha to the hospital.
Mr. Brodbeck was a native of Ger
many and when an infant was
brought by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Michael Brodbeck, Sr., to the United
States, the family first settling in
Ohio and later came west to Ne
braska to settle in Eight Mile Girove
precinct and where the family was
reared and have made their home.
The deceased was a painter by
trade and was well known over that
section for his work for a great many
years, but in late years his condition
has been such that he was compelled
to give up active work but had been
able to be tip and around until a short
lime ago.
Mr. Brodbeck is survived by two
sisters and a brother, Mrs. Carrie
Creaver of San Jose, California, Mrs.
Mary "Wolff and Michael Brodbeck,
Jr., of Cedar Creek, as well as a very
large number of nieces and nephews.
The body was brought here to the I
Horton funeral home at Seventh and
Oak streets to await the funeral ser
vices which were held this evening
at the Glendale cemetery with Dr
H. O. McClusky of the First Presby
terian cnurcn conducting the ser
vices. The Interment was made In
the family plot beside the parents
who had preceded him in death

VISIT WITH SICK
Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Cloidt were
in Omaha Sunday and called at the
Clarkson hospital to visit with H. F.
Goos for a few moments, finding
him showing a very nice improve
ment. They were also pleased to find
E. H. Schulhof at the St. Joseph hos
pital showing some improvement and
able to take some nourishment which
was most pleasing to the Platts
mouth visitors.

TURNS HOME THIS MORNING
From Monday's Daily
Mrs. Glen Vallery, accompanied by
ffer sister. Mrs. J. E. Kurth of
Waterloo, Iowa returned early this
morning following a month's visit on
the west coast. The two ladies were
called to Bellingham, Washington
several weeks ago on account of the
serious illness of their brother, A. J.
Shepherdson. While- on the coast the
ladies also visited in California with
another brother, Tyler Shepherdson
as well as other Plattsmouth friends
and relatives. They also took in the
San Francisco World's Fair. Mrs.
Kurth and her family are here at
the Vallery home to spend the
Fourth of July holidays.

SUFFERS FROM INFECTION
Lester Thimgan, of the Norfolk
Packing Co., is confined to his home
as the result of an infection on the
hand. Mr. Thimgan has suffered with
it for several days and was able to
play kittenball Monday evening, but
yesterday the infection became such
that it was necessary for him" to re
main under medical care.
SPEND FOURTH IN OMAHA
Mrs. Fannie Crosser spent the
Fourth of July holiday in Omaha
with the Frank Lippold family, Mrs.
Lippold being a daughter of Mrs.
Crosser. Mrs. Crosser intends to
spend an indefinite period of time in
Omaha visiting with the daughter
before returning to Plattsmouth.
J. J. SMOCK'S NIECE HERE
Miss Shirleye LaSalle of Denver,
Colorado arrived in this city Sunday
to spend the summer holidays with
her uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs.
