Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Cloidt and
daughter, Frances, are to be guests
this evening at a 6 o'clock dinner at
the Hotel Fontenelle in Omaha. Their
host will be President James Wood,
of Stephens college at Columbia, Mis
souri. The dinner honors students
and the prospective students of this
nationally known girl's school.
Entertain at Family Dinner
Sunday a very pleasant family din-
tier party was held at the beautiful
home . of Mr. and Mrs. M. I
Cleave, 1510 South 56th street,
Omaha. The event was honor
ing members of the Todd and Thomas
family of which Mrs. McCIeave is a
member being formerly Miss Jessie
Todd of Union.
The table was very pretty with
floral decorations and made a fine
setting for the delicious repast.
The party enjoyed a motor trip
through the beautiful home section
of Omaha adjoining Elmwood park,
following the dinner, and the re
mainder of the afternoon was spent
on the beautiful lawn at the Mc
CIeave home.

The afternoon was spent in visit
ing and each guest wrote her favor
ite recipe in a book for the bride, also
writing some very useful neips on
"how to keep her husband."
The rooms had been beautifully

flowers, of green, pink and yellow.
In the dining room the table naa

large bows. Here was concealed the
bride's gifts.
Lovely refreshments of brick ice
cream and cake were served by Betty
Henton, Annis Lee White and Eliza
beth Perry. The refreshments too,
were carried out in the color scheme
of green, pink and yellow.
The bride was the recipient of
many beautiful and useful gifts, as
tokens of congratulations..

Mr. and Mrs. George Mumm en
tertained at a very charming dinner
on Sunday tor a group 01 yuuug
people honoring the announcement of
the forthcoming marriage of her
brother. Homer Spangler, to Miss
Helen Scott of Omaha. The marriage
will take place in early fall.
Those present were Miss Ann Hen
derson, Carlton Mumm of Omaha;
Mr. and Mrs. George Mumm and
family, Peter Mumm, guests of honor
Miss Helen Scott and Homer Spang
ler.

The Nkkles home at 416 North
Fifth street was the scene of the
gathering of a number of guests
from Omaha Sunday who were pres
ent for the afternoon. The guest
list comprised Mr. and Mrs. T. J.
Wurdeman. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Les
lie, Mrs. Young, and Mrs. Alscott.
all of Omaha.

piano selections during the course
of the evening, and visiting and
reminiscing took up most of the eve
ning's entertainment.
At the close of the evening re
freshments were served to a few
neighbors who were present.

Honor Miss Fitch
Miss Marjorie Fitch was the honor
guest at the very delightfully ap
pointed dinner party Tuesday at 6:30
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon
T. Am, Jr., on west Pearl street. The
dinner was tendered Miss Fitch as
she is leaving soon for the Pacific
coast for a visit with relatives and
friends. The guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Clutter, Merle Jones,
Miss Fitch, and Mr. and Mrs. Arn.
honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hadraba,

Red and white flowers served as
the table decorations at the hos
tesses home at 823 Marble street.
Tuesday Afternoon Club
Mrs. W. H. Puis entertained the
Tuesday afternoon pinochle club with
all of the present members in attend
mce. The prize winners for the after
noon were Mrs. Bessie Bourne who
received the highest honor and Mrs.
L.. B. Egenberger who received the
second highest honor.
Mrs. Puis, assisted by her grand
daughter. Miss Betty Rainey of.H
Omaha, served refreshments at the
close of the card party.
Shower for Mrs. Long
. Mrs. Robert Rummel entertained
at a miscellaneous shower at her
home in the Bloom apartment 3 last
evening, the occasion honoring Mrs.
Merle Long, formerly Miss Mathilda
Olson, who was married about four
teen months ago. There were eight
gucst3 present at the shower, the
guest list comprising mostly tele
phone office girls as Mrs. Long has
been an employee of the Lincoln Tele
phone & Telegraph company for
many years. .
The evening was spent in playing
various games. Bunco being the chief
game chosen for the evening. Mrs.
Lillian Schmitt and Juanita Johnson
were the winners in the Bunco game.
Refreshments were served by the
hostess at the close of the party.
The guest list included Misses
Juanita Johnson, Irene Anthes, Elva
Johnson, Cathryn Anthes, Hilda Wal
lengren, Marion Olson, Mrs. Lillian
Schmitt, Leona Meisinger.
Many gifts were received by the
recent bride as tokens of congratu

Catholic Daughters Picnic
The beautiful and shady grove of
Miss Genevieve Whelan was the cen
ter of the covered-dish picnic lunch-
on held last evening by the mem
bers of the Catholic Daughters of
America, this month being chosen as
the social gathering, of the organiz
ation. A large group of the members
were present at luncheon which was
served at 6:30 p. m.
At the conclusion of the luncheon
the ladies indulged in playing bridge
and pinochle the rest of the eve
ning. Miss Minnie Guthmann re
ceived the prize for the highest
bridge score, and Mrs. Elmer Webb
was given the prize for the highest
pinochle honor.
