THURSDAY, MAY 11, 1939. PAGE FOUS PLATTSMOUTH . SEMI - WEEKLY JOUENAL George Sabatka Wedded in Omaha Early Tuesday Former Plattsmouth. Young Man Mar ried to Miss Rose Kangar at Impressive Church Rites. Tuesday morning: at 8 o'clock at the Immaculate Conception church at Omaha, occurred the wedding of Miss Rose Kangar of Omaha and Mr. George Sabatka of Kimball, South Dakota. The wedding was one that was very largely attended by the many friends and relatives of the bridal party, the church being filled to its capacity. The nuptial mass was celebrated by the Rev. W. Krezycki, pastor of the church, and who brought the im pressive blessing of the church to the happy young people. Misses Frances Kangar, sister of the bride, and Marie Krystiner nerved as bridesmaids, while the best men were Edward Hlavacek of Oma ha and Frank Sabatka, brother of the groom, of South Dakota. Following the wedding ceremony a breakfast was served to the members of the bridal party at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs, John Kangar. A reception was held from 7 to 10 In the evening at the home on 2919 South 30th street where a large group were present to shower the young people with congratulations. The bridal party motored to Platts mouth In the afternoon and visited here a short time with a number of the groom's friends and relatives. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kangar of Omaha where she was born and reared to womanhood. The groom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sabatka of Kim ball, South Dakota, former residents of this city. The groom came to Bible School Sunday, May 14th "Paul Evangelizes a Province", i Acts 19:1; 8-10; 20:17-21; Epft. 2:19-22. " Because of the vast material as signed for study in this lesson, which cannot be mastered in a 30 minute study in the Sunday school, we be lieve it 'best to confine ourselves to the study of Paul's labors at Ephesus. From this center of trade and com merce, where thousands of merchants and travelers came and went, the religion of "the way" that Paul preached, was carried by those peo ple over the surrounding territory. At the close of his second mission ary journey. Paul came to Ephesus. found twelve men, disciples of John the baptist, who had not heard that there was a trinity in the God-head. IWhen instructed properly, they be lieved, received the gift of the Holy Spirit and were baptized. Then Paul tarried in Ephesus three months. When urged to stay, he declined, but promised to return "if God will." Now we come to his third and last missionary tour. Again he comes to Ephesus, preaching for three months in a synagogue. When trouble arose, lie left the synagogue and preached in a school house two 3-ears. . The manifestation of the power of God, who was with his servant, was seen in the great bonfire, in which books of sorcery and magic to the amount of 50,000 pieces of silver were destroyed. It was some house cleaning. (Anthony Comstock done a similar work in New York, with in decent literature). A crusade against obscene literature today would run into millions of dollars. A genuine revival produces such results in in dividuals and communities today. And then we notice the riot the Demitrins started about the trade of the silversmiths. That shows what a mob may do. (The teacher may enlarge on this episode. Chap. 19: 23-41). The result of Paul's labors here aie: A great church was organized, to which Taul wrote one of the great est letters of all his writings; it is also one of the seven churches to which special letters were sent by John. (See Rev. 2:1-7). Having fin ished his labors, he starts for the home base, while at Melitus he calls for the elders of the church of Eph esus. When they come, we see one of the most solemn farewell meet ings. Paul reviews his work among them, the trialrf and triumphs and the manner of preaching. Would that kind of preaching be accepted in our modern churches? Can man be saved by any other Gospel? May Plattsmouth some two years-ago and during his residence here he was an employee, of the local Hinky-Dinky grocery store. Mr. Sabatka had work ed here but a short time when he was transferred to Omaha where he Is at the present time employed in one of the Hinky-Dinky stores there. During his residence here he made his home with his aunt, Mrs. Bessie Aschenbrenner at 1514 Vine street. Mr. Sabatka is also a grandson ot the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sabatka, old-time residents of this city. He is i young man well known in this city and has made a legion of friends dur ing his short time here who wish he and his wife a happy and successful wodded life. Mrs. Bessie Aschenbrenner and sons. Frank and John or tnis cuy were the only attendants at the wed ding from Plattsmouth. A large number of Plattsmouth people at tended the reception held last eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Sabatka will make their home in Omaha. VISITS WITH OLD FRIENDS Mrs. Virginia Frady and son, John E. Frady, were visitors at Omaha and Ashland Sunday. At Ashland they visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Todd, old friends of the Frady family and whom Mrs. Frady has not seen for the past twenty vears. NOTICE OF ADMINISTRATION In the County Court of Cass Coun ty, Nebraska. To all persons- interested in the estate of Axel Nelson, deceased. No. 3406: Take notice that a petition has been filed praying for administration of said estate and appointment of Emma Nelson as Administratrix; that said petition has been set for hearing before said Court on the 2nd day of June, 1939, at ten o'clock a. m. Dated May 3. 1939. A. II. DUXBURY, (Seal) mS-3w County Judge. Lesson Study! By L. Neitzel Murdock, Neb. we ask: "Why is repentance not emphasized more than it is?" The plan of salvation has never been changed! "Ye must be born again," and "there is no other name given but the name of Jesus whereby man can be saved." Then, why try other ways? It wsa a tender leave-taking. (See Chap. 20:36, 37). We come now to review the let ter Paul wrote to this church when a prisoner in Rome and sent by Tychicus; but as the letter is one of Paul"s most important letters of the apostle, so deep in meaning, and so high and lofty in tone, we have to connne our exposition to the few verses selected. The points of teach ing are: (a) The unity of the church. There are no races recognized, nor sojourners all have found in Christ a fellowship and citizenship in the household of God; a family relation ship like a clan cling together, in unity of purpose and aim. That is a beautiful picture of the church. No race prejudice enters here. But what of the church of today? Some church members will not wor ship with the negro, who are washed clean in the came fountain as the white man. The narrowness of the Jews finds no place here. The Psalmist saw this beautiful picture and in the ecstasy of his soul he cries out: "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity, etc." (Psalm 133). The church's foundation are the apostles and prophets with Christ as the corner stone; which assures se curity and . permanence. All other ground is sinking sand. That is the reason why Christians are so sure of their salvation. What a glorious priviledge is mine to be part of this magnificent temple of the Lord, in which God dwells and is worshipped in the beauty of holiness. About this temple (the church) sings the Psalmist: "How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainted, for the courts of the Lord . . . blessed are they that dwell in thy house." (Psalm 84:1-4). Timothy Dwight had caught the vision of the church of which Paul writes, when he sings: "I love thy kingdom Lord, The house of thine abode The church our blessed Re deemer sayed With bis own precious blood. For her my tears shall fall; For her my prayers ascend; To her my toils and cares, be given Till toils and cares shall end."
