PATIENT UNDERGOES OPERATION
From Tuesday's Daily
Edward Stava returned home this
morning from St. Louis where he has
been with Mrs. Stava at the Mis
couri Pacific hospital where she was
operated on Saturday. The operation
wa3 quite serious but the patient has
ctood the, ordeal in fine shape and
at the time of Mr. Stava leaving, the
wife was showing a pleasing gain.
RETURNS FROM DETROIT
Charles Bennett, popular young
son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bennett
of this city, arrived home Saturday
evening after spending a very suc
cessful winter in Detroit, Mich.
On the return to this city "Chuck"
came by bus enjoying hi3 homeward
trip very much.
"Chuck's" return home came as a
complete and welcome surprise to
his family, and it is hoped "Chuck"
will enjoy being home, as much as we
enjoy having him back in town.
VISITS BLACK HILLS
E. II. Bernhardt, of the Norfolk
Packing Co., is making a business
trip through the west In the Inter
ests of the well known lines of his
packing plant. Mr . Bernhardt Is
visiting at Denver as well as the
towns in the Black Hills area In the
Interest of his plant and Its lines.
SUNDAY AT COLUMBUS
Dr. and Mrs. P. T. Helneman and
family drove to Columbus, Nebraska
Saturday evening and spent Sunday
visiting with Dr. Heineman's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Helneman.

ton vs. the Ash, Grove Lime and Port
land Cement Co., et al. the Jury this
morning returned a verdict finding
for the defendant, Melvin Schliefert
and against the plaintiff. Judge Wil
son on Saturday sustained a motion
of the attorneys for the Ash Grove
company that they be eliminated
from the case. The court directed a
verdict for the company. "
