Sunday Evening Bridge Club
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bryant served
as host and hostess to the Sunday
Evening Bridge club at their home
last evening. Two guests, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Bestor were present.
In the gentlemen's division, Wal
ter Tritsch was the winner of high
honors, and Guy Long second. Mrs.
Walter Tritsch was winner of first
prize in the in the women's division,
and Mrs. Ray Herring, the second.
At the close of the party Mrs.
Hryant served refreshments.
Surprised on Birthday
Mrs. Elmer Tritsch was very pleas
antly surprised on Saturday evening
at her home west of the city when
a group of the neighbors, relatives
and friends arrived to extend their
gretings on her birthday anniversary.
The evening was delightfully spent
in cards and climaxed by the lunch
eon that had been brought by the
members cf the party. In honor of
the occasion Mrs. Tritsch was given
a very attractive rememorance ana
the wish of the friends for many
more happy birthdays.
Hold Afternoon Bridge
Mrs. Clayton Cross and Miss Flor
ence Beighley entertained a group of
friends and close associates at an in
formal gathering at the . former's
home in the Ilerold apartment Sat
urday afternoon. Eighteen guests,
Including Misses Xancy Lee of Lin
coln. and,Maxiire Cloidt of McCook,
were present at the occasion.
The afternoon was spent in play-
ine bridge. Miss Estelle Baird win
ning first' prize, and Mrs. Carl Keil
winning second prize.
A luncheon was .served at the
conclusion of the party by the hos
tesses, Miss Florence Beighley and
Mrs. Clayton Cross. The Easter theme
was carried out in the decorations.
Announce Marriage
Mr. and Mrs. George Wallinger
ar.'.iounce the marriage of their
daughter, Ila Catherine to Mr. Clar
ence E. Wills on Sunday, March 20,
1939 at Marysville, Kansas. Both
families are residents of Ashland, Ne-
Ibraska where they are industrious
farmers in that part of the state.
Mrs. Willis is a niece of Mrs. H. E.
Becker, Mrs. Louisa Bauer and Fred
Guenther.
Fritz Kaffenberger entertained the
Birthday club at a 1 o'clock lunch
eon at her home on West Oak street.

Following the luncheon the time
was spent in playing cards and a
social gathering was held.
The members present were: Mrs.
Raymond Larson, Mrs. Harry White,
Mrs. II. B. Perry, Mrs. James Rishel,
Mrs. Florence Coleman, and the hos
tess. Mrs. Fritz Kaffenberger.

Entertains at Theatre Party
Miss Ve!ma Fulton entertained her
school Sunday afternoon at a theatre
party at the Cass. Afterwards all
enjoyed treats at Mauzy's Drug store.

Pre-Nuptial Breakfast
This morning at 7:30 at the
Jacobs' cafe, Mr. Lumlr Gerner was
host at a pre-nuptial breakfast honor
ing his aunt. Miss Lulu Gerner, of
Crete and Mr. William Danek of Lin
coln, whose marriage took place in
Omaha later today. Other guests in
cluded Miss Sylvia Korbel, and Mr.
and Mrs; Adolph Gerner of Crete,
who served as attendants at the wedding.
Neighborhood Pinochle Club
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Woest eri
tertained the Neighborhood Pinochle
club at their home on Friday eve
ning, March 31.
Raymond Larson won first prize
in the gentlemen's division and John
Alwin second.
In the women's division Mrs. Aug
usta Haupt was winner of first prize
and Mrs. Leslie Niel second.
At the conclusion of the party re
freshments were served by the host
and hostess, assisted by Mrs. Augusta

The Shuffle and Deal card club met
last evening at the home of Dr. L. S.
Pucelik.
The evening was spent in playing
pinochle.
Following the party refreshments

Last evening a group or tne close
associates and neighbors tendered a
party in honor of Miss. Mary Kvapil
who observed the passing of her
eighteenth birthday.
The evening was spent in playing
games, the prize winners being
Misses Helen Slatinsky, Doris Lees-
ley, Shirley Leesley, and Albin Chov-
anec.
At the conclusion of the party re
freshments were served to the group
A large birthday cake, presented to
the guest of honor by her aunt, Mrs.
August Kopp, served as the center
piece of the table.
Following the luncheon the guests
were all entertained at a theater
party.
Shower for Miss Shrader
Mrs. Georgia Creamer entertained
at a miscellaneous shower on Tues
day afternoon at her home near Mur
ray in honor of her niece, Miss Velma
Shrader whose forthcoming marriage
to Robert Rea will take place in the
near future. Forty-four guests were
present.
The afternoon was spent in play
ing games of all kinds, Mrs. Floyd
Gauer of near Cedar Creek winning
the prizes. One of the most enjoy
able features of the event was the
mock wedding which was performed
during the afternoon.
At the close of the party Mrs.
Creamer served refreshments of cake
a la mode.
; The bride-to-be received many use
ful and handsome gifts.
