Mo., Jan. 31. Prof. It. P. Patterson, on leave of absence this year from his duties as professor of history and government at Tarkio College, will leave Feb. 11 for Wash ington, D. C, to spend two weeks in the library of congress. Prof. Patterson has spent the past four months in the State Historical So ciety library at Lincoln and in Om aha doing research in connection with his biography of the late Sen ator Gilbert M. Hitchcock. In Washington, Prof. Patterson will make a special study of Senator Hitchcock's leadership in the party fight in the senate which resulted In the refusal of the senate to ratify the Treaty of Versailles. Senator Hitchcock was the leader of the minority forces. Mr. Patterson will go to Boulder, Colo, the last of March to spend the spring quarter at the University of Colorado where he is a candidate for the doctor's degree in American his tory and a Research Fellow in the history department. He expects to have his biography ready for publication late this fall. In connection with his study of Sen ator Hitchcock's political activity In Nebraska, Prof. Patterson has read a hundred years of Nebraska news papers including every Issue of the World-Hesalt that has been publish ed since it was founded in 1885. - WILL PRESENT REAL TREAT The Gleaners circle of the Meth odist church are preparing to afford a real treat to hte Plaltsmouth peo ple as a feature of their St. Valen tine's day program, to be held at the church parlors on Tuesday, Feb ruary 14th. Mrs. Maude Smith Delavan, of Omaha, author of the very popular story, "The Rumelhearts of Rampler Avenue," will be here to review her book and which will be in the nature of an antimated review by puppets. Mrs. A. M. Herring unA Mrs. Helen Polian, also cf Omaha, will assist in the review. This story of the adventures of the Rumelhearts and their battered trailer house which finally finds a location in one of the exclusive streets of a city, will be very, cleverly presented and will be something that all will enjoy in its splendid pre sentation. VISITS RELATIVES HERE Mr. and Mrs. William Kelley ot Manley have as their guest and visi tor their son, John Kelley of St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr. Kelley is a student at the St. Paul's Seminary in Minnesota whore he Is studying for the priesthood of the Catholic church and during his two weeks' leave of absence has been visiting in Manley. and this city with many f his former schoolmates and friends. Mr. Kelley is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Jirousek of this city. JUNIOR LEAGUE POPULAR Coach Hoffman's Junior high league continues to show a great deal of interest. Monday's game was made up of ten teams. The opening game with Cotner, Evers, Grassman, Blunt, and Brizcndine won by a margin of 4 to 1 against Dashner, Dow, Keil, Shryock, and McBriile. Another outstanding team was Larson, White, Ilighfield, McMaken, and Steppat who scored a victory of 17 to 7 over Dashner, Rice, Jacobs, Traudt, and Richards. RETURNS PROM WYOMING Mrs. Everett Gooding returned home Monday afternoon from Casper, Wyoming, where she has been for the past several weeks visiting with her brother, John Speck and family and with another brother, Carl Speck, at the hospital at Casper. Mrs. Gooding reports Carl as being much better and while suffering from two fractured legs, is showing an excellent rate of improvement.
