Sharon Louise of Fullerton, Xebr., were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Laase, Mrs. Laase being a sister of Mr. Vaughn. V. L. Hassler of Lincoln, Earl F Hassler and daughters, Shirley Ruth and Mary Frances of Omaha, were here Sunday to visit with Mrs. Wil liam Hassler, Sr., and Miss-Anna for the day. From Tuesday's Dally N'cal Finnegan of Oi'naha was here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Molak and family Monday. Attorney C. E. Tefft of Weeeping Water was here today to spend a few hours attending to some matters In the district coiyt in which he was interested as attorney. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hughes and daughter, Maxine of Lincoln were here Sunday where they visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bourne as well as other friends and relatives. From Wednesday's Dally County Register of Deeds Ray F. Becker was at Omaha Tuesday to look after some matters of business. Misses Georgia and Lillian White were week-end visitors at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy White and family. Walter J. Wunderlich of Nehawka was a visitor in the city yesterday wnere ne came to see about some' important business. From Tuesday's Daily Today was the birthday anniver sary of Rt. Rev. Monsignor George Agius, pastor of the St. John's church of this city and one of the veteran priests of the Catholic church in Ne braska. In honor of the anniversary of this able churchman, the children of the St. John's parochial school with their instructors, the members of the Ursaline sisterhood, had arranged a very fine program that was especial ly dedicated to the happy occasion of the birthday of their beloved leader. Monsignor Agius also was the celebrant of the high mass at the chapel of the school and which was attended by the scholars, sisters and a large group of the members of the parish to join in the observance of the occasion. Monsignor Agius also had the pleasure of having at the mass and to assist in the observance of the day, his brother, Father Mar celles Agius of Kearney. This afternoon Monsignor Agius provided a much appreciated treat for the young people of the school in remembrance of the anniversary and as an appreciation of their fine work in school. HAS A CLOSE CALL Sunday evening at the William O'Donnell, Jr., home in the south part of the city occurred a narrow escape from a heavy loss of damage and personal injury when a gaso line stove belonging to Mr. and Mrs. O'Donnell exploded. After consider able time and effort, Mr. O'Donnell was able to extinguish the flames through the medium of wet toweling. The cause of the explosion Is not known. There was only a slight damage caused - from smoke and which laid Mr. O'Donnell up for a short time. Hunter, DD., a former pastor of the First Methodist church of this city, who is now the field sec retary of Wesleyan University, was in the city Monday. Dr. Hunter was at the high school for a talk at the convocation hour and in which lit told of the work of the university that he represents. Its courses, of study and the general setup of the Wesleyan plant where a number of Plattsmouth alumni have completed their higher education.
