is announcing the engagement of
her daughter, Miss Ruth Adeline
Smith, to Dr. Gervase Reinert, of
Lebanon, Kansas, son of Mrs. Cath
erine Reinert of Sequin, Kansas. The
marriage will take place at 8 o'clock
in the morning of Saturday, October
1st at "Our Lady's Chapel," of the
St. Cecelia cathedral at Omaha. The
j-oung people will make their home
at Lebaon. The bride-to-be is a for
mer Plattsmouth girl.

of Omaha, were here Sunday, to spend

George F. Foxworthy, for many
years with the Western Newspaper
Union at Lincoln and Omaha, was
in the Ity .today for a short time
visiting with old friends. Mr. Fox
worthy, who has retired from ac
tive service with the company is
making his home with his daugh
ter at Newport, Nebraska.

Mrs. Lawrence Leonard of Mur
ray was a business visitor in Flatts
mouth yesterday.
ASKS FOR INJUNCTION
AND AN ACCOUNTING

An action was filed today in the
office of the clerk of the district court
entitled, Searl S. Davis, guardian of
Charles Philpot, vs. John W. Philpot,
et al. The suit is one for injunction
and accounting, the plaintiff asking
that defendants be enjoined from in
terfering with the plaintiff in the
discharge of his office and fof the ac
counting of funds that might have
been expended. Robert VanPelt of
Lincoln and A. L. Tidd of this city
appear for the plaintiff.
HAVE EXCELLENT PROGRAM
The members of the Rotary Tues
day had an Impromptu program
given by the members of the body
and which was very much enjoyed
by all of the group.
Frank A. Cloidt and Dr. R. P.
Westover, well known vocalists of
the club, gave two much appreciated
vocal selections.
The members enjoyed an Informal
round table discussion of the cur
rent events which proved very In
teresting and brought out many very
able expressions on the great issues
that are today shaking the world.
Club Names Delegates
The Plattsmouth Woman's club
met last night with Mrs. Elmer Sund-
strom, club president. There was a
very good- attendance. Mrs. Wil
Ham Heinrich gave the devotionals.
The business meeting was held and
Mrs. Sundstrom and Mrs. L. S. Devoe
were chosen as delegates to the state
convention to be held at Kearney
Their alternates are Mrs. William
Heinrich and Mrs J. F. Wolff.
Milo Price, instructor of the Platts
mouth high school, gave a very in
teresting talk on the situation in
Europe. Delicious refreshments were
served by the hostesses who were
Mrs. Sundstrom, Mrs. R. C. Jahrlg,
Miss Fern Jahrig, Mrs. Fred Lugsch
and Mrs. R. W. Knorr.
From Wednesday's Dairy
Junior C. D. of A.
Members of the Junior C. D of A.
went on an outing Sunday, hiking
about three miles west of the city
where they built a fire and had a
delicious lunch. After the lunch
they played games and then returned
to their homes. Mrs. William Nel
son, their counsellor, was their super
visor on the trip. '
Pinochle Club-
Miss Helen Smetana entertained
the Pinochle club last evening at a
6:30 fried chicken dinner. Each
member brought a covered dish to
contribute to the fine dinner. The
evening was spent in playing cards
with Mrs. Edgar Newton winning
first prize and Mrs. Paul Vandervoort
winning second.
OBSERVE DOUBLE BIRTHDAY
Sunday, September 18 was the 61st
anniversary of P. A. Hild and the
3rd anniversary of his little grand
son, Lyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verner
Hild.
The sons of Mr. and Mrs. P. A.
Kild, with their families, all came
with well filled baskets of good
things to eat. Also Mr. and Mrs.
Nkk Hennings, of Louisville, par
ents of Mrs. Verner Hild and grand
parents of little Lyle were there to
help celebrate. Owing to the chilly
weather Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ahl of
Louisville, great grandparents of lit
tle Lyle, were unable to be present
It had been planned to have dinner
at the park, but as it was too cold to
eat outside they went to the home
of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Hild and had
dinner, cafeteria style. After dinner
the party went to the park for a
while where the grandchildren play
ed all kinds of games and at a late
hour they all departed for their
homes wishing little Lyle and their
father and grandfather many more
happy birthdays together.

library this year will be in the form
of an air race across the United
States and Mexico. This is a contest
between the rooms of the grade
school and is held in order to
stimulate reading by the students
A star is placed on the map for
each book read by the student and
the room having the most stars by
the end of the year wfns a banner.
If a room fails to have a hundred
per cent of its students reading, its
plane will have "cracked up."

McDonald, Kansas, as well as Michael
Warga, Sr., of Havelock are in the
city to enjoy a visit with relatives
and attend the King Korn Karnival.
They are visiting at the Henry Kauf-
mann and Mickey Duda homes. Mr.
Warga is the father of Mrs. Kauf-
mann and Mrs. Smith.

LAURICE COFFELT IMPROVING
Mrs. W. H. Coffelt has just returned
from Greeley, Colorado, where she
was at the bedside of her son, Laurict
who was operated on for appendicitis
and later suffered an attack of pneu
monia that made his condition very
grave, he being1 kept under an oxygen
tent for three days before the danger
was checked. He has now left the
hospital and it is hoped that he may
soon be able to resume his work as an
employe in an electric switch and time
clock shop in Omaha.

Saturday for a vacation trip to the
west coast and where she will be a
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boyd at
their home In Everett, Washington.
