Set Budget for
the Fiscal Year
Estimate Total cf $292,333.16 Need
ed to Carry on County Busi
ness for 12 Months.
During their May sessions. Cass
County Commissioners accepted -the
report of the three Commissioners,
feting in the capacity of a budget
committee under the terms of the
new "County Budget Law" of 1937,
determining: the total need for all
purposes to conduct the affairs of
the county during; the fiscal year to
he 5292. "33. 16 and estimating the
sources of revenue required to raise
tl-.at sum. Final hearing on adoption
of the budget was set for June 6, to
allow time for the posting and pub
lication of the estimates.
Topping the budget estimate is
?97.ir3 OS for C.eneral fund. Next in
gross amounts are: County Highway
fund. $39. iiOO.Od; Drag fund. $3S,
."iMUMi; poor Relief fund. $33,383.
0; Bridge fund. $29,000.00; Com
inirsioners' Road fund. $20,000.00;
Head fund, $17,500.00; Mothers
Pension fund. $4. Otto. 00 and Soldiers'
Relief fund, $1,000.00. Deficiency i
appropriations include $6,912.31 to
take up overdraft in General fund,
end $5.3S4.17 to take up overdraft
in Poor Relief fund.
The sources of income in order of
their amounts are: Balance 1937
Tax Levy. due. $127,051.45; Gaso
line Tax, $45,000.00; 193S Tax Levy
for deficit, $43,212.92; Cash Bal
ances, various funds. $29,668.79;
Auto License fees. $19,000.00; Fees
of County Officials. $17,400.00; De
linquent Taxes. $8,000.00 and Mis
cellaneous collection's. $3,000.00.

Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Michelsen. The visitors were
long time friends of the Michelsen
family when the latter made their
home in Omaha.
Mr. and Mrs. Knude Jensen who
have been in the west for the past
two weeks v here they are visiting
the brother of Mr. Jensen and as
well at the homes of their two daugh
ters and' where they enjoyed the
vacation to the limit, arrived home
Friday of last week well pleased with
the short vacation.

Mrs. John Bolz and their son. Roger
were guests at the Kimmell-Wagner
wedding at Lincoln last Saturday at
4 o'clock in the afternoon at the
Warren Methodist church. In the ar
rangements there was provided five
bridesmaids and five ushers. Over 200
guests attended the wedding.

at the rear of his house which many
people were guessing just what it
was to be. but none could guess.
The 'purpose vras finally divulged
when the work was completed and
did not make a bottom as was neces
sary, the excavation was for a lily
pool, and a dandy one it was only
it lacked a "bottom to hold water.
Another series of maneuvers will
have to be bad to remedy the defects.
Building Goin?; On.
There were a number of workmen
at work on the foundation for th;
new telephone building which i.s to
grace the lot next to the new build
ing just erected for the Blackbird
store now occupied by C. H. Findley.
With the work going on so rapidly
it will not be long before another
building has been erected to fill the
gap left by the fire.
