Claims Disallowed The Board disposed of a number of claims (some of long time pendency) bl disallowing same, as follows: Claim of Bailey & Dorrance for J30.00 filed Nov. 27. 1937, for em balming body of Henry Johnson. Claim of F. TV. Beil for $10.00 filed October 5, 1937, for damages to fence by heavy gang graders. Claim of Chris and Bertha Bar kening for $40.00 filed April 3, 1937, personnel of for 40 100 acre of land for road the board changes. And it is doubly bury when new members corns into the board, as they have this year, by appointment to fill vacancies caused by resignation and death. Besides receiving reports from the various county officers for the last quarter of 1937. the Commissioners v ere faced with the task of reorga nizing, considering bids for various services and supplies, approving re quests for funds for the Farm Bu reau program and Agricultural So ciety (county fair), setting prices to be paid for road work and helpers j in the various county offices and last j but not least, preparing the annual Estimate of Expense or budget for the year. The resignation of Fred II. Gor der, third district Commissioner, ef fective January 3. removed an able member from the Board and left two members to carry on until January 11, when Henry C. Eackemeyer, the ntwly appointed successor was sworn in by County Clerk Sayles. The Board then re-organized for the year, electing E. B. Chapman as chairman and George L. Farley as vice chairman. Soon after this, it list through sudden death the ser vices of Mr. Chapman and again two members, one of them new to the duties, were forced to carr1 on until early in February when the successor to Mr. Chapman. Elmer Hallstrom, of Avoca. was named and took up his part of the work.
