Gerbeling and son Orval marketed their alfalfa seed Wednes day. Henry Gerbeling had two acres that produced 8 bushels and 25 lbs. The S bushels brought $15 a bushel, cr $120 and he kept the 25 pounds. Orville had a slightly larger patch and upwards of nine bushels, receiv ing $135 for the even bushels he sold. Thus, slightly over four acres ot land brought them a return of $255 for the seed and they had a goodly supply of hay left for feed. When one can make $60 an acre raising alfalfa seed, It would seem that increased numbers of farmers would engage in this very lucrative line of endeavor, although like with everything else, over production re sults in rapid price drops in which event it might not prove so profit able after all. The old law of sup ply find demand. Escapes Severe Injury While J. E. Golden was hauling his threshing outfit home and vras passing the home of Wm. Knabe, one wheel under the front of the machine truck broke, allowing the feeder sec tion to drop down some two feet As this part of the machine extended out over the head of Mr. Golden, he narrowly escaped severe injury, as the feeder was broken off from the impact of the first drop, and fell to the ground finally. Mr. Golden was pulling the separator with a tractor, and was right in the path of the falling feeder section, but somehow escaped injury. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Rice returned home Wednesday evening from the west coast where Mrs. Rice has spent several months and Mr. Rice recently joined her for the trip home. They spent a part of the time in and near Tacoma and Seattle where relatives of Mrs. Rice live and later they visited in southern California with the relatives and old friends. At Balboa they visited the James Cunningham family, old neighbors here several years ago and also with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rice at Beuna Park, the former a younger brother of Mr. Rice. They also visited a niece of Mrs. Rice, Mrs. Ethel Rouse at Riverside. Last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Rice had the pleasure of a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Lon Henry at Los Angeles and had a fine time in the discussion of the old home back in Plattsmouth. est Your Friends Donat's Beer Tavern Corner 4th and Main Opposite Courthouse 10c Bcttled Beer and Fresh Fish Sandwiches COME, SEE US WHEN IN TOWN For Real Values COME TO Donat Liquor Store 2nd Door West of Donat's Beer Tavern Finest Line of Liquors and Wines in Cass County A TRIAL WILL CONVINCE YOU mi -lHlIM r iJ-ril-TmMIMWMIWMMIMMBlMIMI IIIMII II M Illlll WW III II I II III 11 111 Mill III'- - "- - 1 one 1 1 USED CABS & TRUCKS 1 Chevrolet Sales and Service I SUSS COUNTY MOTOR Go.
