Langhrst of Elmwood, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, August 17th, and will hold open house, to their friends, 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p. m. Mr. and Mrs. Langhorst have long been prominent residents of Cass county and have a host of friends over the entire eastern section of the state who will join in their congratu lations to these estimable residents on the approaching anniversary. VISIT FRIENDS HERE Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Hartford, of Kansas City, Missouri, were visi tors here over the week end with the old friends. They have made their home at Kansas City since their mar riage and are now leaving for Texas where they will make their home. Mr. Hartford has been transferred to Sweetwater, Texas, by the American Jepsem company and will be manager at the Texas city for the company. They are leaving soon for the new home. DENY ESPOINAGE CHARGE VATICAN CITY. Aug. 6 (UP) Officials of the Holy See smiled when informed of the Isvestia's charges of espoinage by the Russian college in Rome, "Russieum." They emphatically denied that the colleee in any way was connected with espoinage activities, but admit ted that it was a vital center of anti bolshevist propaganda and one of its fondest hopes was to return to Rus sia and restore Christianity. LEAVING FOR COLORADO RETURN FROM OUTING Mrs. Katie Hild and daughter. Miss Minnie, clerk in the office of County Judge A. II. Duxbury, returned Sun day from an outing in Oklahoma. They visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Floyd, near El Reno, the latter a sister of Mrs. Hild and aunt of Miss Minnie. Thev found the country badly in need of rain, as the last good rain was in June and the crops have suf fered a great deal from the drouth and heat. QUINS ARE IMPROVING CALLAXDAR, Ont., Aug. 10 (UP) The Dionne quins have about re covered from colds and will be per mitted to play outdoors today, Dr. Allan Defoe announced. "They are coming along very well," he said. "They are all right except mild colds, quite usual In children at this time of the year." - Dr. Dafoe cancelled the Monday "personal appearance" of the quins. More boys are needed to make the 12-day trip covering 1500 miles to Denver and the Rocky Mountain National Park possible. The cost of the trip is $22 and it is being spon sored by Glen Rutledge. . . . Much threshing remains to be finished in this area. Rains since the beginning of the harvest have delayed thresh ing. Enterprise. Mr. and Mrs. Harry White and son, Allen and Kenneth, are leaving for Colorado where they will enjoy a short outing before the opening of school and will visit a large number of places of interest in the mountain section. Allen White has been en gaged in farm work this summer In order to keep in condition for the opening of the football season at the local high school. FLOWER CLUB MEETS The Social Workers' Flowev club held their last meeting at the home of Mrs. Charles Manners. The after noon was spent in playing several different kinds or games which were under the supervision of Mrs. Andy Snyder. An interesting reading was given by Mrs. Mike Kaffenberger. A delicious two-course luncheon was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Man ners, Mrs. Fred Munim, and Mrs. Strough. VIEW COMET From Wednesday's Daily Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wescott viewed the comet last evening through a powerful pair of field glasses. It was seen between the pole stars of the big and little dippers. TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Miss Alice Rohren, housekeeper at the St. John's parish house, was taken to Omaha Monday where she entered the St. Joseph hospital. Miss Rohren has not been in rugged health and she will be given a thorough exam ination and treatment. It is hoped she may be able to return soon to her duties -here. She was taken In the Horton ambulance. FRACTURES HIP From Wednesday's Daily Mrs. V. V: Leonard fell on the lawn last evening and fractured her hip. She was taken to the Clarkson hospital and is resting a little easier this morning, however the lady is in a good deal of pain. She was taken to Omaha by the Sattler ambulance service.
