A. G. Johnson
Dies Early Today
at Hospital
Long Time Resident Here Has Been
111 for Past Six Weeks; Taken
to Hospital Monday'.
From Tuesday's Daily
A. G. Johnson, 71, a resident of
Plattsinoutli for many years, died
this morning at 4 o'clock at the
Clarkson hospital at Omaha follow
ing an illness that has covered the
past six weeks. Mr. Johnson has
been a sufferer from heart trouble as
well as asthma and in the last weeks
his condition has been very serious
and Monday he was taken to the
Omaha hospital for treatment.
Mr. Johnson is one of the veter
ans of the Burlington, being engaged
i'.i the local shops of the Burlington
over a long period of years, and later
was employed in the BREX shops
until his retirement from active ser
vice. He was a member of Plattsmouth
lodge No. C, A. F. & A. M. and also
of Mt. Zion commandery No. 5,
Knights Templar.
In the past nine years Mr. John
son has made his home with his
daughter. Miss Helen on the farm in
East Rock Bluff precinct, since his
retirement devoting his time to farm
ing. He is survived by the daughter,
Helen and one son. Melvin, of Chi
cago, the w ife preceding him in death
several years ago.
VISITING OLD SCENES
Mrs. Celiccia Hiatt, cf Sidney,
low a, is here to enjoy a visit at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank R.
Gohelman, the latter a daughter, as
well as with the old time friends.
Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Gobelman and
Mrs. Hiatt were entertained at the
Geurge Ray home south of this city
at a very delightful dinner.
Mrs. Hiatt i3 one of the real pio
neer residents of this part of Ne
braska, her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
I. S. White, having been among the
early settlers at Rock Bluff and
their home there was widely known
over the county for the hospitality
of the family. There are but a few
of the old associates of Mrs. Hiatt
left and she enjoys greatly meeting
them. One of the old school friends
is Mrs. Z. W. Shrader of Nehawka
who like Mrs. Hiatt is one of the pio
neers of the county.
GAME WARDEN VISITS HE2E
Herman Nave, of Crete, Nebraska,
is here for a short visit at the home
of his son. Clemens Nave and fam
ily. Mr. Nave is engaged in the game
preservation section of the govern
ment and has served for several years
p.3 a game warden. He states that a
number of persons hunting wild
ducks and geese out of season, have
been apprehended along the Missouri
and Platte rivers during the migra
tion cf the wild fowl to the north.
Mr. Nave is an enthusiastic believer
in the conservation of the wild life
of the nation.

Earl A. Oidham will celebrated his
49th birthday anniversary next Sat
urday, March 20th.
Mrs. Oscar C. Hinds who has been
spending the greater portion of the
winter on the Pacific coast, return
ed home Sunday.
V. O. Miller and Bert Fisher were
in riattsniouth last Tuesday morning
looking after some business matters
at the court house.
The members of the Weeping Wa
lter Woman's club were meeting dur
ing the early part of this week with
Mrs. II. T. Heigle.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chapman
were spending last Sunday at the
home of Mrs. Chapman's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C. II. Whitworth of Union.
O. O. Kimber, manager of the
store of Rudge and Guenzel of Weep
ing Water was looking after some
business in Lincoln Tuesday of this
week.
Henry Crosier was called to Elm
wood on Tuesday of this week to
look after some property there which
he and Knude Jensen recently ac
ciuired.
Louis Carsten, jr., and family of
east of Avota, were guests for the
day last Sunday at the home of
Elihue Askew, where they enjoyed a
very fine visit and as well a delight
ful dinner.
Wm. Van Every of Weeping Wa
ter, accompanied by Richard Willard
of Eagle were attending a meeting
of managers of stations of the Con
sumers Oil company at Council Bluffs
last Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. W. 1'. Sitzman were
looking after some business matters
in Plattsmouth Friday of last week,
and were also guests at the home of
their daughter and husband, Mr. and
.Mrs. r loyu ueruenag.
Charles Findley and wile moved
during the week to the residence
property of Mrs. Dish, and Elmer
Johnson moved to the place vacated
by Mr. Findley. Soren Skararis was
getting both properties in shape be
fore the moving.

Quarry to Be Opened.
The quarry which has been closed
during the entire winter and thus
not provided work for the people, is
to be opened immediately and "will
employ some two hundred men, and
while the quarry was working last
year some sixty of the 'force was
Weeping Water men.
Pleasant Get Together.
The business men of Weeping Wa
ter were well represented at the
meeting and oyster supper at Mayme's
cafe, to discuss the forthcoming old
fashioned Fourth of July celebration
to be staged in Weeping Water. The
meeting was also atended by the Am
erican Legion and the members of the
fire department. Some seventy in all
were present.
Blaze Causes Excitement.
One day last week thee himney of
the Congregational church of Weep
ing Water burned out, catching the
roof on fire, causing the fire depart
ment to hustle, but they had the fire
out in a jiffy, also saving any con
siderable damage to the building.
Jolly Mixers Enjoy Meet.
Last Monday the Jolly Mixers, an
organization of Weeping Water
ladies, were meeting at the home of
Mrs. Frank Marshall, where they en
joyed a very pleasant afternoon with
games, sociability and some work.
A luncheon was served at the con
clusion of the meeting.

St. Patrick's Dinner
St. Patrick's dinner was held at
the O. A. Davis home in Murray Sun
ilnv. The trreen and white color
'scheme was carried out in the ap
j pointments. During the afternoon
the group enjoyed cards. Guests were
Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Tutt. Miss Etta
and Lee Nickles, Mrs. Fannie Grosser
and Mrs. Pittman.
St. Patrick's Party
Miss June Griifin entertained at
a St. Patrick's party at her home last
evening. Twenty girl friends were
guests. Green and white decorations
were used and shamrocks were in
evidence. St. Patrick's favors were
I given. Contest games also carried the
j Irish theme. Prizes went to Ruthie
Westover, Dorothea Duxbury,
Cloidt, and Verona Toman.

luncheon was held at the home of

Surprise Party
A group of twenty-rour neighbors
surprised Elmer Hughes with a party
at his home last evening. The party
was given in honor of Mr. Hughes'
birthday. Guests played cards dur
ing the evening.
Birthday Surprise
Ed Schulhof was guest of honor
at a surprise birthday party last
night at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Cappell. Twenty friends of
the neighborhood card club enjoyed
the evening of fun. Mr. Schulhof
received a number of handsome gifts.
Mrs. Elmer Lohnes won high at
bridge for the ladies and Mrs. Haupt
won consolation. Leslie Niel held
high score for the men and Ray Lar
son, low. The luncheon plates car
ried the St. Patrick't theme.
Einner Guests This Evening
Dr. and Mrs. A. F. Fritchen of De
corah, la., are to be dinner guests
at the home cf Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Gobelman this evening. They are re
turning from a medical meeting in
Kansas City and will spend the night
here before driving to their home in
Decorah.
Dr. Fritchen has recently been
appointed a special surgeon with the
rank of a lieutenant commander in
the medical corp of the U. S. Navy
reserves. Dr. Fritchen took his ex
amination at the Great Lakes Naval
Training station north of Chicago.
This is not a political appointment,
coming entirely from application to
the medical corps of the navy. It is
unusual that a 'physician who had
held the rank of captain in the army
during the world war should be ap
pointed as lieutenant commander in
the navy.
Mrs. Fritchen is a sister to Mrs
Gobelman. Mrs. Gobclman's mother,
Mrs. Celeccia Hiatt, who has been
visiting here, will return with Dr.
and Mrs. Fritchen to her home" in
Sidney, la.

Howard Hatcher, who has taught
in the Eagle public schools lor me
past two years, has accepted a posi
tion as coach ef athletics in the
schools of Rushville for the coming
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Root left for
the western part of the state the lat
ter part of last week. While they
were here. Merle built a fine trailer
which they plan to occupy while
there.
Austin Trimble was in Lincoln last
Saturday and visited with his daugh
ter, Miss Hazel Trimble, who came to
Lincoln for the week end from Til-
den where she teaches in the public
schools.
The Fairview school near Elm
wood, taught by Miss Esther Ilorsh,
was closed last week on account of
a caseof scarlet fever in the district.
Miss Ilorsh spent the week at her
home near Eagle.
Mrs. Donalel E. Springer anel her
mother, Mrs. D. A. Nicholas of Elgin
drove out from Lincoln Wednesday
afternoon and visited with friends.
They were the evening dinner
guests of Mrs. Sarah Keil and Dor
othea. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gerhard were the
dinner guests on Sunday of Mrs.
Sophia Gerhard and Miss Jennie
Gerhard. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gerhard
and Miss Jennie Gerhard drove to
the home of Harvey Gerhard near
Alvo during the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Hudson left for
Fairmont on Tuesday of thi3 week
and will visit until Wednesday with
Mr. and Mrs. Talmage Norris. They
they plan to drive to Alliance where
they will spend several mouths on
their farm near that city.

MOVING TO OMAHA
The Watson Bros. Truck company,
one of the largest in the central west,
is to move their executive offices from
Nebraska City to Omaha, official an
nouncement is made.
The company organized and start
ed their business career in Nebraska
City a number of years ago and have
expanded rapidly and now are well
known all over the Missouri 'valley
territory as one of the largest truck
companies operating here.
They have employed a large staff
at their Nebraska City offices and
who are being transferred to the new
office in Omaha, making it necessary
for the employes to leave their homes
in the Otoe county city.

You are hereby notified that on
the 27th day of February, 193 7.
Frank L. Heim, the petitioner, filed
a petition in this Court alleging
that said Alice J. Murray departed
this life at Littleton, Colorado, on
the 26th day of August, 1933, leav
ing a Last Will and Testament
which was duly proved, allowed and
admitted to probate in the County
Court, In Probate, County of Arapa
hoe, State of Colorado, on the 1 Otli
day of October, A. I). 1933, by an
Older Admitting Will to Probate of
said Court, entered therein, and a
duly authenticated copy of said in
stiument with the Order Admitting
Will to Probate thereof in said Coun
ty Court, In Probate, County of
Arapahoe, Colorado, is presented for

Alice J. Murray, left her surviving
as her sole and only heirs at law,

all now of legal age anel whose
names and places of residence are as

Elmore Wehrly, a son, residing
at Dillon. Colorado
and that said decedent died seized
in fee simple of the following de
scribed real estate, of the County of
Cass and State of Nebraska, to
wit: An undivided one-half C1'-)
interest in the northwest quar
ter (NWU) of Section twenty
seven (27). Township twelve
(12), Range eleven (11):
That the petitioner is a subsequent
purchaser of said real estate.
That more than two years have
row elapsed since the death of said
decedent, Alice J. Murray, and that
bv reason thereof a regular admin
istration of said estate in this slate
be dispensed with as provided by
law, and that said real estate be as
signed, free from all debts of said
decedent to the legatees named in
said will, if admitted to probate in
this state.
