Agnes Keteihut spent Tuesday of this week with her sister, Mrs. E. C. Oberle and Mr. Oberie. Little Janice Gerhard is enjoying a visit with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwegman. Mrs. Bertha Wulf of Lincoln visit ed her mother, Mrs. Paulino Oiler man on Friday of last week. Mrs. A. J. Nelson and daughter. Helen visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Miller last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. August Schwegman called at the Fred Schwegman home on Monday afternoon of this week. She was a devoted member of the German Lutheran church, having been baptized and con fumed in that faith during her youth. Funeral services were held Friday 'afternoon. January 129th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Bolz in Palmyra and at Paisley church. Burial was in the UnadilrU cemetery. To know her was to love her, a kind and loving mother whose voice is stilled but will abide with us spiritually forever. A lover of chil dren unto the last, the grandchildren shall miss a tender voice, kind words and kind deeds. Miss Freda Reitter accompanied y tier mother. -Mrs. George Reitter, and Mrs. Dwight Earl and children were driving to the home of Mrs. Earl's parents near Cheney last Sun day when the car slipped from the highway and down an embankment. The occupants, we are glael to hear, were uninjured and the car received a ve ry small amount of damage. Miss Reitter had her car taken to Lincoln and the passengers were brought tt) Eagle feeling rather nervous after their experience, which might have been so much worse. Jucke Jesse Root Guest Speaker at Rotary Meeting 'The Constitution" Is the Subject of Talk by Fcrzner Resident of Cass County. The Rotary club at their meeting Tuesday had the rare pleasure of hav ing with them one of the distinguish ed members of the bar of the state and a former resident of Plattsmouth a!'d Cass county over a long period of years. Judge Jesse L. Root of Omaha. The meeting was under the leader chip of Judge A. II. Ouxbury. who rresented the speaker of the occasion. Judge Root took as the subject of his address, "The Constitution"' and in a very fine talk discussed the document that embraces the funda mental law of the land. Judge Root traced the adoption of the national constitution anel the" safeguards that it had laid aremnd the young repub lic and which down through the cars had served to protect the in i crests ef the peeple of the nation. Judge Rejot in discussing the pres ent day situations pointed out that ;u the past history of the nation that crises even greater than those of to day had been surmounted. He gave a message of encouragement in the future years. Aduison E. Will. BURKEL DIES OF PNEUMONIA Yal Burkel received a telegram from Portsmouth bearing the sad Views eL the death of Wm. Burkel of pneumonia.- He was ill only two days. Mr. Burkel had received a letter ;rom his brother on Thursday of last week saying that the family was .veil but scattered in the homes of 1; lends. He alse) wrote that six feet of water stood in the second floor of their home in Portsmouth but that the water was receding and he hoped they wemld soon be able to get home t clean out the mud. Mr. Burkel evidently contracted pneumonia from exposure. Wm. Burkel will be remembered in this community by a number who rift him on his visits here. He was a teacher of violin. He leaves his wife and one son. SCHOOL DANCE SUCCESSFUL A nine-piece ochestra made up of students under the direction of Pete Mradoville furnished music for the high schojl dance Friday evening from four to six o'clock. 125 stu dents attended.
