S. S. Gooding returned home this
morning from a visit of some two
weeks at Glllete, Wyoming, near
v.here he has extensive land interl
ests. Mr.' Gooding reports that the
light snows have visited parts of
Wyoming, but not to any great depth.
The condition there as to crops has
been poor and only in sections of the
Big. Horn valley are there any good
crop showing.
While in the west Mr. Goodin
stopped at Stratton and Burlington
Colorado, where he formerly resided
and met a number of the old friends

The Largest Store in Cass County, Plattsmouth, Nebr.
Saturday afternoon the soap box
derby, which was to have been fea
tured on the closing day of the King
Korn Karnival, was staged on South
Sixth street. The event drew out a
ery pleasinjr number of the residents
:o enjoy the thrills of the races.
There were a large number of
entries for the races, which made
jome vtry exciting heats as the list
'as erradually eliminated until the
anals between Kenneth Wohlfarth
md James Tolbert. both of whom
!iad been contenders in the races in
Jmaha in July.
The final heat proved to be a real
race and was plenty close as the two
cars rolled down the hill, with Wohl
farth it: the last few feet sweeping
into the lead to win by a half car
length.
The winners in the events were
as follows:
1 Wohlfarth, $5 cash and pen
and pencil.
2 Torbert, wrist watch and pen
and pencil.
3 Bryant, wrist watch and pen
cil.
4 Pitz, baseball glove and pencil.
5 Cloidt, football and pencil.
C Smith, football and pencil.
7 Sheard, basketball and pencil.
8 Kobbs, pen and pencil, 2 sets.
The judges of the event were
Judge A. II. Duxbury, Carl Schneider
and Robert McPherson.
The starters were Claude Ruse,
Guy Long and Earl Sipple.
The committee in charge of the
event were Fred Sharpnack, chair
man; v. is. AsnDaugn, ciauae ituse,
C. Woest and Ray Bryant.

Here Saturday
Special Train Over the Burlington to
Reach Here at 11 a. m. Many
to Greet Executive.

The special train bearing President
Franklin D. Roosevelt,, will pass
through this city on Saturday at 11
a. m., advices received here Tuesday
night by Governor R. L. Cochran
stated.
It is hoped that the train may have
a we minute stop here to permit the
residents of the community who ar
expected to be present at the station
to greet the distinguished visitor to
Nebraska. This will be the first city
in Nebraska through which the train
will pass and a truly Nebraska greet
ing snould be given the president.
President Roosevelt will speak from
the state capitol steps in Lincoln atji
3 o'clock in the afternoon and in
the Coliseum at Omaha at 8 o'clock
Saturday night.
The train here will be switched to
the short line on to Lincoln.
TO ATTEND CONVENTION
AT NORTH PLATTE
From Tuesday' Daily:
Howard Davis, city attorney, will
leave Omaha late tonight for North
Platte, where he will attend the an
nual convention of the League of
Nebraska Municipalities Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday as a represen
tative of the city government. One of
the features of the convention is an
all day meeting of the legal section,
composed of attorneys from a large
number of the member towns, to dis
cuss timely matters of interest and
Howard expects to return with much
valuable information. Another fea
ture of the three day session will be
a tour of the Sutherland power pro
ject. , T
Plattsmouth has held membership
in the League for a good number of
years and has derived much good
from its contacts with League offic
ials and legal aides.

UPON NOVEMBER 3, 1936.
The following amendment to the Constitution of the State of Ne
braska will bi submitted to the electors of this State for approval or
rejection at the general election to be held November 3, 1936:
De it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraskc:
Section 1. That Section 7, Article 12, of the Constitution of the State
of Nebraska, including the amendment to said section adopted at the
general election held November 4, 1930, relating to the individual liability
of stockholders in banking corporations or banking institutions, is hereby
repealed.
Sec. 2. That at the general election in November 1936, there shall be
submitted to the electors of the State of Nebraska for their approval or
rejection the foregoing proposed repeal of Section 7, Article 12, of the
Constitution of Nebraska in the following form:
"FOR repeal of Section 7, Article 12, of the Constitution of Nebraska
fixing individual liability of stockholders in banking corporations or
banking institutions," and
"AGAINST repeal of Section 7, Article 12, of the Constitution of
Nebraska fixing individual liability of stockholders in banking corpora
tions or banking institutions."

LEGAL NOTICE AS TO MEASURE TO BE VOTED
UPON NOVEIBER 3, 1936.
The following amendment to the Constitution of the State of Ne
braska will be submitted to the electors of this State for approval or
rejection at the general election to be held November 3, 1936:
Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:
Section 1. That Section 1, Article IV, Constitution of the State of
Nebraska, 1875, and the several amendments thereto, including the amend
ments proposed by the Constitutional Convention of 1919-1920, and
adopted at the special election held on the 21st day of September, 1920,
be amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. The executive officers of the state shall be the Governor,
Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of the State, Auditor of Public Accounts,
Treasurer, Attorney General, Superintendent of Public Instruction and
the heads of such other executive departments as may be established by
law. The legislature may provide for the placing of the above named
officers as heads over such departments of government as it may by law
create. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary
of State, Auditor of Public Accounts, and Treasurer shall b3 chosen at
the general election held in November, 1922, and in each even numbered
year thereafter, and their term of office shall be two years and until their
successors shall be elected and qualified. The Superintendent of Public
Instruction Bhall be elected in November, 1922, and every four years
thereafter, and his term of office shall be four years and until his suc
cessor shall be elected and qualified. The records, books and papers of all
executive officers shall be kept at the seat of government, and such
officers, excepting the Lieutenant Governor, shall reside there during
their respective terms of office. Officers in the executive department of
the state shall perform such duties as may be provided by law. The
heads of all executive departments established by law, other than those
to be elected as provided herein, shall be appointed by the Governor, with
the consent of a majority of all the members elected to the Legislature,
but officers so appointed may be removed by the Governor. Subject to
the provisions of this Constitution, the heads of the various executive
or civil departments shall have power to appoint and remove all sub
ordinate employees in their respective departments."
Sec 2. That at the general election in November, 1936, there 6hall
be submitted to the electors of the state of Nebraska, for their approval
or rejection the foregoing proposed amendment to,the Constitution in the
following form: -
"FOR an amendment to the Constitution abolishing the office of
Commissioner of Public Lands and Buildings," and .
"AGAINST an amendment to the Constitution abolishing the office
of Commissioner of Public Lands and Buildings."
