Mrs. A. J. Tool is a guest this week
at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
W. P. Meyers and family, of Sioux
City.
Curtis Craig and family of Beatrice
were guests at the home of the form
er's brother, Eddie Craig and wife,
over the week end.
Mr. and Mrs. George Work, of
Omaha, visited over the week end at
the home of Mrs. Work's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. A. J. Tool.
Arthur Trunkenbolz, auditor for
the Trunkenbolz Oil . company of
Eagle, was looking after business in
Murdock Vast Thursday.
Ilryan McDonald and Merle Gilles
pie are still busy with their work on
the Murdock water works system, but
have the work mostly done now.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meyers and the
children, came up from their home at
Faii-bury for an over Sunday visit at
the home of Mr. Meyers' mother, Mrs.
Aug I'anska.
During the past week Lawrence
Race was able to dispose of three
cars, one going to a party in Lincoln,
one to Weeping Water and the third
to Elmwood.
John Wood of Wabash was look
ing after some business matters in
Murdock last Thursday afternoon,
having some blacksmith work to be
done by J. II. Buck.
Mrs. Hannah McDonald and Mrs.
W. J. McDonald and her two lit
tle sons were at the county fair in
Weeping Water last Wednesday, en
tering one of the boys in the Better
Baby contest.
A. J. Tool and Laccy McDonald
were trying their luck at the fishing
ground on the Platte river Thurs
day afternoon. During their ab
sence. Mrs. Tool was looking after
business at the store.
Dr. L. D. Lee was one of those
asked to officiate as a judge in the
Better Babies contest at the county
fair at Weeping Water last Wednes
day, but receiving a professional call
to go to Lincoln was unable to go
to the fair.
W. T. Weddell was at Weeping
Water last Thursday afternoon and
enjoyed the fair. Miss Irene was
looking after business at the lumber
yard during Mr. Weddell's absence,
and in turn she attended the fair in
the evening.
Henry A. Tool was called to Weep
ing Water to look after business mat
ters and took advantage of the op
portunity of viewing the exhibits and
other attractions at the county fair
while there During his absence, Mrs.
Tool was looking after business at
the bank.
R. Brunwhite, of Omaha, who re
cently purchased the eighty acres of
land lying just across the road south
Ironi the Callahan church, accompan
ied by his wife and child, were visit
ing in Murdock Thursday and went
out to inspect the land. While here,
they were guests of Henry Gakc
rueitr. Mrs. Corbin Better
Mrs. Elmer Corbin, mother of
Mrs. Frank Dean, who has been in
St. Mary's hospital at Nebraska City,
where she underwent an operation,
is reported as being some better at
this time. Mr. and Mrs. Dean and
the children were over to Nebraska
City last Sunday to visit Grand
mother, which cheered her up very
much. It is hoped she may soon be
able to leave the institution.
Mrs. E. D. Friend Very Sick
Mrs. E. D. Friend, mother of Mrs.
Eddie Craig, who resides north of
Alvo, has been critically ill during
the past two weeks, being confined to
her bed throughout the time, and
grave tears are entertained as to her
recovery. Mrs. Craig has been at her
bedside, assisting in the care of the
mother.
Visiting1 Son Here
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Krusc or Clay
Center were visiting Thursday and
Friday of last week in Murdock, be
ing guests of their son, (Jeorge
Krauso, who is employed with the
Murdock Mercantile company. They
were accompanied by the Rev. C.
Jannen, pastor of the Evangelical
church of Elmwood. They were all
guests for dinner Thursday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Amg
were and visited in Elmwood in the
evening.

tending the fair at St. Paul and were
watching the races from the grand
stand, the stand collapsed. Mr. and
Mrs. Gillespie escaped uninjured, but
Miss Viola suffered a spine injury
that has kept her confined to her
bed and caused her much pain and
inconvenience.
Attending State University
Murdock is contributing her quota
to the state university and is send
ing a bevy of bright young men and
women to that institution of learn
ing, among them Miss Bernice Rikli,
Loretta Huge, Daniel Ruge, Irene
Panska, Richard Eppings, Norman
Schewe, Wayne Bornemeier, Orline
Zabel, Lucile Backemeyer and Ruth
Bornemeier.
To Attend Normal School
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gorthey were at
Peru last Sunday, where they went
to take Miss Dorothy Gorthey and
Dorothy Gakemeier, who are enter
ing the teachers' training depart
ment at the state normal.
Surprised on Birthday
Mrs. J. H. Buck was passing her
49th birthday anniversary last Tues
day and during the evening a large
number of the friends came to her
home and made a merry evening for
this good woman. They brought an
abundance of fine eats. During the
preceding week the Royal1 Neighbors
had also joined in a celebration of
this event at their regular meeting
held at the hall.
Will Take Vacation
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Craig are tak
ing a vacation of two weeks, but
will spend the time at a not too far
distant point, as they are desirious
of being close to Mrs. E. D. Friend,
mother of Mrs. Craig, who is very
poorly and do not want to go so far
away but that they can hasten back
at a moment's notice.
Alvin Bornemeier Improving
Alvin Bornemeier, who was injured
while harvesting corn fodder for en
silage by being thrown from the
wagon, is recovering at the Bryan
Memorial hospital in Lincoln and it
is hoped he will be able to return
home in the near future.
Has Leg Amputated
William Kleyser, one of the whole
hearted Mauley men and a friend to
every one, has been ill for some time,
having an affliction on one of his
feet, which grew so serious it was
found necessary to take him to the
Ilryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln
for treatment, and a subsequent op
eration for the removal of one of his
legs just below the knee. He is re
covering slowly from the effects of
the operation and his friends are
hoping the removal of the limb will
halt the affection.
Put in a Very Busy Day
Last Sunday was a strenuous day
for L. N.citzel, who was at Havelock,
where he taught a Bible class of
some 50 adults at the M. E. church
and also filled the pulpit for the pas
tor. His daughter, Mrs. Hitchcock,
regular teacher of the class, was a
lay delegate to the conference at
Grand Island and had asked her fath
er to come over and take her place
and at the same time the pastor,
Rev. Fowler, who also attended the
church conference, sent an invitation
to fill his church pulpit, which Mr.
Neitzel did, thus putting in a full
day's labor, seemingly to the satis
faction of the large audience.
To Dispose of Estate Property

Ruge, administrator, is calling at
tention to the sale of the late home
of Mrs. Elizabeth Witthoeft, which
was left to the Evangelical church
in her will and will be sold in order
to turn it into cash for the church
and close up the estate. Read the no
tice and if you're interested see Mr.
Ruge about it.

Last Sunday evening services will
long be remembered by the church
when twenty-two people took part
in the service which brought an in
spiration to a large audience. Sun
day evening, the 20th at 7:45 there
was started our Union Evangelistic
services and will continue each night
at the church at 7:45. Let me urge
all who should and could be present
at every service. Don't miss a single
service for the lack of interest in the
Lord's work. You will be unfair with
God if you do not do your best to be
present and help God save this lost
world. "Walk worthily."

Wreck Occurs
Near Union
Mrs. Mary Alioto of Raleigh, Colo
rado, at Nebraska City Hospital
With Fractured Skull.
Two persons suffered cuts and
bruises and another lay in the St.
Mary's hospital at Nebraska City as
the result of an accident that oc
curred early Friday morning on high
way No. 75 in the vicinity of Union.
The accident occurred when the
automobile driven by Casper Artese
of Cheyenne, Wyoming, crashed into
a hayrack that was being driven by
Lynn Austin, the hayrack being head
ed down the highway toward Union.
Mrs. Mary Alioto, of Rawleigh.
Colorado, who was with her brother,
Mr. Artese, in the automobile, was
the most critically injured and was
taken on into Nebraska City and
placed in the St. Mary's hospital. She
was found to be suffering from a frac
ture of the skull. Her condition was
described as critical.
Artese and Austin were suffering
from minor bruises and lacerations
that were treated at Union.
CHICLES MEET
From Thursday's Daily
Members of the various circles of
the Presbyterian Federation met yes
terday afternoon. Due to the muddy
roads, two of the groups gathered
at the church for their regular meet
ing. Circle 1 met with Mrs. Vm.
Schmidtmann, Jr., with Mrs. Charles
Tunnel and Mrs. Philip Kehne as
sisting. Mrs. Hilt Martin took charge
of the business meeting. IS were
present for the social gathering.
Members of Circle 2 voted to sell
pop corn and candy from the Hiatt
store during the Korn Karnival at
their meeting at the church. The
Missionary program was centered
about the study of Torto Rico. Papers
were given on the topic by Mrs. John
Wolff and Miss Georgia White. Mrs.
Sam Gilmour, Mrs. Harry Gayer, and
Mrs. Guy White were hostesses.
Miss Caroline Baird entertained
Circle C at her home. She was as
sisted by Misses Helen Farley and
Agnes Meunster. Mrs. Will Robert
son took charge of the business meet
ing. It was decided that the group
would sell home made candy and
popcorn at the Karnival. Billie Rose
Canterbury sang some of the sweet
school songs for the group.
Circle 4 ilso met at the church.
Mrs. L. L. McCarty and Mrs. Robert
Cappell were hostesses. 14 attended.
15 members and 3 visitors at
tended the meeting of Circle 5 at
the home of, Mrs. Howard Fullerton.
Mrs. Jess Terryberry and Mrs. George
Hennings were hostesses. The group
decided to serve the P. E. O. banquet
in October.
FINDS CONDITIONS EXCELLENT
Sheriff Homer Sylvester was at
Weeping Water Friday where the
largest crowd of the four day county
fair was in evidence, finding that the
best of condition prevailed despite
the huge attendance. There were no
serious accidents despite the fact
that there were hundreds of cars
parked over the city and no disorders
marked the vast crowd that came to
enjoy the last day of the big 'county
fair. Everything was handled in fine
shape and the fair association and
the city of Weeping Water are to be
congratulated on the fine show and
the excellent treatment of their visi
tors. DEPARTS FOR THE WEST
From Friday's Daily
This morning S. S. Gooding de
parted for a combined business and
pleasure trip to the west, going to
Gillette, Wyoming, as his first destin
ation. Mr. Gooding has extensive
land interests in the vicinity of Gil
lette, the members of the Gooding
family having homesteaded there
several years ago. He will spend
some time looking over the land and
later expects to visit at other points
in Wyoming before returning home.

ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
We, the undersigned, hereby as
sociate ourselves together for the
purpose of forming a banking cor
poration as provided by the laws of
the State of Nebraska, and do adopt
the following Articles of Incorpora
tion:
Article I The name of this cor
poration shall be UNION STATE
BANK.
Article II The principal place of
business of this corporation shall be
at Greenwood, County cf Cass, State
of Nebraska.
Article III The object for which
this corporation is formed is to carry
on a commercial banking business as
provided by the Laws of Nebraska.
Article IV The authorized capi
tal stock of this corporation shall be
$25,000.00, of which at least $10,
000.00 shall have been paid in at
the time of commencement of busi
ness, which shall be issued in shares
of the par value of One Hundred
(100) Dollars each. No transfer of
the stock of this corporation shall
be operative until entered on the
books of the corporation.
Article V The indebtedness of
this corporation shall at no time ex
ceed the amount of its paid-in cap
ital and surplus except for deposits.
Article VI This corporation shall
begin business on the 1st day of July,
1936, or as soon thereafter as auth
orized by the Department of Bank
ing of the State of Nebraska, and
shall terminate on the 1st day of
July, 1966.
Article VIII The affairs of this
corporation shall be under the con
trol and management of a board of
directors consisting of not less than
three nor more than five share
holders, whose term of office shall be
for a period of one year, or until
their successors are elected and
qualified, not less than a majority of
whom shall be residents of the coun
ty in which the bank is located or
counties immediately adjacent there
to. It shall be the duty of the board
of directors to elect from their num
ber a president and secretary, and
select a vice president and cashier,
and they may also select an assist
ant cashier and such other clerks and
assistants as the business of the
corporation may require. The term
of office of the officers of this cor
poration shall be one year, or until
their successors are elected and
qualified. The board of directors may
adopt such by-laws for the regula
tion and management of the affairs
and business of the corporation as
it may deem proper.
Article VIII The regular annual
meeting of the stockholders of this
corporation shall be held on the first
Tuesday of January each year, at
which meeting the board of directors
above provided for shall be elected.
A majority of the shares of stock of
the corporation at any regular or
special meeting shall constitute a
quorum for the transaction of dusi
ness.

Mildred N. Morgan, deceased, for
license to sell real estate.
Now on this 28th day of August,
1936, there was presented to the
court the petition of Fred G. Mor
gan, Administrator of the estate of
Mildred N. Morgan, deceased, for
license to sell Lots 11 and 12 in
Block 37 in the City of Plattsmouth,
Nebraska, subject to the homestead
right of Fred G. Morgan therein, and
also the North half of Lots 11 and
12 In Block 54 in the City of Platts
mouth, Nebraska, for'the purpose of
paying debts and costs of administra
tion of said estate; and it appearing
that there is not sufficient personal
property in the hands of the adminis
trator to pay the debts and costs of
said administration, and it further
appearing that there is no personal
property in the hands of said ad
ministrator; that the claims allowed
In said estate amount to the sum of
$802.99, and that the costs of ad
ministration will amount to approxi
mately $250.00; that an order should
be entered directing all persons in
terested in said estate to appear and
show cause why a license should not
be granted to said Administrator to
sell said real estate.
