Co-operating with the WPA in sponsoring the conference are the state bureau of child welfare, Uni versity of Nebraska, agricultural col lege extension division, state depart ment of education, Nebraska Feder ation of Women's clubs, Parent Teach association and the national youth administration. RETURNS FROM HOSPITAL John Elliott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Elliott, who has been at Om aha for the past ten days, recover ing from the effects of his recent op eration for appendicitis, has so far recovered that he was able to return home Saturday. He is feeling very much improved and it is hoped he may soon be restored to his former excellent health. RETURNING HOME THURSDAY Mrs. Andrew Kroehler, who has been at Nebraska City, undergoing treatment, is expected to return home Thursday to remain at the home here. Mrs. Kroehler has greatly improved in the past weeks under the care cf her physicians and it is hoped will scon be on the way to permanent re covery. DEATH OF BABE From Tuesday's Daliy: This morning the new born babe of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farrell, of near this city, which was born at the Nicholas Senn hospital at Omaha, passed away. The body was brought here to the Horton funeral home to await funeral arrangements. Porter, of Union, was a visitor in Nehawka, and while here was having one of his fleet of trucks looked after by Clifford Trotter, the garage man. Albert Anderson, wife and son vis ited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Anderson in Omaha over the week end, driving over to the big town in their car. W. T. Schlichtemeier was at Elm wood late last week, where he had some business matters to look after. He was accompanied by his assistant farmer, Harry Reed. Miss Betty Ross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ross, was a visitor in Nebraska City last Saturday, call ing on some of her young lady friends and also attending a show. Frank Trotter was in Omaha last Monday, taking a load of cattle to market, and on his return brought a load of plaster and cement down for A. F. Sturm, the lumber man. County Attorney W. G. Kieck, who is a candidate for district judge of the second judicial district, was in town this week calling on the voters n the interest of his candidacy. M. R. Witt, of Syracuse, is cutting wood on the Charles Rose place, hav ing been so engaged for some time past, and even while the weather was cold was able to get his quota every day. Albert Alford, who has been mak ing his home in Elmwood for the past year or two, has been a guest at the home of A. A. McReynolds for the past week, they being friends of many years' standing. Ronald Schlichtemeier of Elmwood was a visitor at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schlichte meier, and was accompanied by his wife and kiddies. They all enjoyed a very fine visit last Sunday. Glen Rutledge was looking after come business matters in Murray and Plattsmouth late last week and was up again the first of this week. He reports having all the work in the shop he can handle just now. Granville Ilecbner, who purchased the implement business of J. J. Dauour was a business vis itor in Union last Monday, being called there to look after some mat ters of business and was also con sulting with his friend, Joseph Ban ning and the latter's son, Lucean, who were busy as bees during the time Mr. Balfour was there. Dr. Henry W. Walters was in Lin coln last Saturday where he arranged for the reception of Mrs. L. .31. Mc Vey at the Bryan Memorial hospital, where she underwent an operation Monday morning.. Dr. Walters also returned to Lincoln Monday to be with the patient during the ordeal. George Nickles. of Murray, was a visitor in Nehawka on Friday of last week and was meeting his friends in this part of the country in further ance of his race for the new unicam eral legislature. Mr. Nickles has serv ed two terms in the lower house of the legislature from this county. Roy Pierce, who during the early spring moved from the place where he had been residing for some time past onto one of the Straub farms, moved to another which is located near Avoca, where he is to farm this summer. He was visiting and look ing after some business matters in Nehawka one day . this week. S. Rough, at Los Angeles, much damage was caused to . the plumbing.
