Lucean Carper was in Omaha Mon
day to look after some business mat
ters. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dill have moved
into the Burr property which they
recently purchased.
Dr. and Mrs. Gilmore were visiting
with friends in Lincoln Wednesday,'
being guests of Dr. and Mrs. Bell.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Young were
in Omaha Friday of last week look
ing after seme business matters and
also visiting friends.
Miss Opal Solomon was a visitor
for over the week end at the home
of her folks at Louisville, returning
to Murray Sunday night.
Edward Kniss was in Plattsmouth
where he enjoyed a visit with friends
for over the week end, visiting with
relatives for the occasion.
Mrs. Fred Drucker was enjoying
a visit of a number of days at the
home of her friend Mrs. Bay Fred
erick during the past week.
There were services on last Satur
day night at the Christian church
of Murray to which many of the mem
bers of the church attending.
Fred Wcolsey of Omaha was a visi
tor in Murray Monday of thi3 week
and was looking after some business
matters at the Murray Lumber Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Dallas C. Young of
Platsmouth were Sunday guests at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Young for the day and very fine din-j

D. Crosser were over to Omaha on

Ray Frederick, the seed man of
Nebraska City, was a visitor in Mur
ray last Sunday and was looking af
ter seme business matters for a short
time.
J. C. Stuart has been troubled with
a lame back which is in the nature
of lumbago which has been inter
fering with his business activities
some.
E. W. Thimgan of Plattsmouth, re
publican candidate for nomination
for commissioner of the first district
wa9 a visitor in Murray last Tues
day mornng.
County Attorney W. G. Kieck of
Plattsmouth was a visitor in Murray
last Monday and was looking after
his political fences as well as visiting
at Nehawka and Weeping Water.

Mrs. O. A: Davis were enjoying a visit
at the home of friends in Nebraska
City last Saturday and as well were
looking after some shopping while
there.
The Misses Mildred Wilson and
Ruth Greene were over to Iowa where
they visited at the home of the par
ents of Miss Ruth lor the day whica
vas a very pleasant one for the two
young ladies.
Thomas Nelson was a visitor in
Weeping Water last Sunday where
he was guest of friends for the day.
He was accompanied by W. J. Patter
son, who went to visit at the home of
his brothers.

Mrs. E. DeLes Dernier who was
taken suddenly ill last week is at
present at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. John Doeschot in Omaha and
is undergoing a series of treatments
by a specialist in that city.
Mrs. Everett Spangler who is
group chairman of the extension
clubs in this section of the county,
was attending the district conven
tion of the Women's clubs at Hum
boldt Tuesday and Wednesday of this
week.
Mrs. Clarence D. Geary has not
been feeling the very best for the
past week and the past few days has
been kept to her bed with something
like the flu or grippe. It is hoped
she may soon be feeling better and
able to be out again.
On last Thureday there came a call
from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Or
ville Philpot for Dr. Tyson, who has
tened to the home just in time to
meet a very fine little son who came
to make his home with the happy
parents. All doing nicely.
One of the large plate glass in the
front windows of the Garage of Mur
ray blew in during the high winds
of the past few days and the hole had
to be stepped by nailing board over
the opening until such a time as they
may be able to replace the glass.
The C. D. Spangler family enter
tained a number of relatives at their
home Tuesday when they had as their
guests Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Perry of
Lincoln and Mrs. Catherine Perry

Plattsmouth one day the latter por
tion of last week, where they visit
ted their old time friend, George B.
Mann and wife, going to visit Mr.
Mann, who has been very ill for some
tiie. Mr. Mann passed away early
Tuesday morning of this week.
Dr. R. W. Tyson was called to
Plattsmouth early last Monday morn
ing to welcome a little baby boy who
was arriving at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. M. R. Glass, who formerly re
tu'.ed in Murray but who have re
cently moved to Plattsmouth. The
mother and little man are doing very
nicely.
The school ground will within a
few days be beautified as well as im
proved by the planting of a number
of trees thereon which will within a
few years afford shade as well as a
shelterbelt. The trees consist of 50

Austrian pines and 25 Chinese elms
which were donated to the school dis
trict by Everett Spangler, and for
which the school board and the en
tire school district are very appre
ciative. Attend Concert at Omaha.
Some dozen of the members of the
young people of the Murray Presby
terian church were over to Omaha
last Saturday night where they en
joyed a concert given by the mem
bers of the glee club of the Monmoth
College; a Presbyterian school at
Monmoth, Illinois, where both Mr.

Mrs. Eugene DeLes Dernier who
has not been in the best of health for
some time was taken to Omaha last
week where she underwent observa
tion for a time at the hospital and
after which she was staying at the

Entertained Last Friday.
At an entertainment which was
had at the Philpot school over near
Weeping Water a number of the
oung folks of Murray attended. Prof.
Harold Griere of the Murray schools
sang a couple of numbers while Rev.
C. Loyd Shubert made an address. A
very enjoyable time was had.
At Home on the Farm.
Henry Kirscher who has been mak
ing his home in Nebraska City for
the past five years, returned to the
farm between Murray and Nehawka
where h3 will engage in farming, be
ing there now and settled and work
ing at whatever comes to hi3 hand.
Clebrated 52nd Anniversary.
Last Sunday at the very pleasant
home of Mr. and Mrs. Fleming W.
Robb of Lincoln was gathered to
gether the relatives of Mr. and Mrs.
L. A. Tyson of Elmwood and where
they celebrated the passing of of the
52nd wedding anniversary of this ex
cellent couple. There were there for
the occasion besides th guests of
honor Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Tyson of
Elmwood; Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Ty-
son and their kiddie of Murray; W.
J. Browne and wife of Lincoln;
Floyd Tyson and wife of Lincoln and
Marion McCrorey and wife of Elm-wood.
Entertained for the H&j.
Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Hathaway
entertained last Sunday and had as
their guests for the day and a very
fine dinner, Mrs. C. T. Morton, moth
er of Mrs. Hathaway, Mr. and Mrs,
Edgar Morton and children of Union
and Mr. and Mrs. George Lopp of
near Nehawka.
Jlake Trip to Ulysses.
Van Allen and his sister were
visiting with friends at Ulysses last
Sunday, driving to the upstate town
in the auto of Van, and enoying a
very fine visit there and an excellent
dinner with their friends, returning
in the evening. They returned
thru Seward and also met a number
of friends, arriving home during the
early evening, having enjoyed a very
pleasant day and trip.
Organizes 32-Piece Band.
James Smith, the musician, and es
pecially is he strong on band and
orchestra instruction and perform
ance, last Saturday night organized
a juvenile band with some thirty-two
pieces and will immediately proceed
to give instruction, that they may be
in a position to furnish music for
what is desired, at as early a date as
possible. Anyone desiring to join this
band better make arrangements im
mediately as in this way they can all
get started together and proceed that
way. See Mr. Smith if you desire to
be one of the band. You can get in
touch with him at Murray.
United Fresbyterian Notes.
The attendance at both the Sab
bath school and church services is
steadily increasing.
As last Sabbath closed the church
year, a very interesting promotion
day program was rendered by the
various classes of the Sabbath school
and a goodly number of the pupils
were promoted to more advanced
classes. It was found that IS mem-
ibers of the school had perfect attend
ance during the year, and as is the
custom, were presented their pins.

Officers elected for the Sunday
school for the ensuing year were as
follows: Miss Doa Davis, superintend
ent, re-elected; Dale Long, first as
sistant; Dale Wohlfarth. second as
sistant; Katheriae Long, pianist;
Jimmy Faris, secretary; Mrs. C. D.
Spangler, treasurer; Marie Vest, li
brarian; Florabell Meade, asistant
librarian; Mrs. Brubacher, cradle roll
superinetndent. All teachers were re
elected. The splendid sermon by Rev. Sloan
on "Judas Iscariot His Confession"
was appreciated by his congregation.
Several car loads of the young people
motored to Omaha in the evening
where they enjoyed a concert at the
Central U. P. church, given by the a
capella choir of Monmouth college.
The annual congregational supper
and business meeting was held on
Tuesday evening. Rev. Strong of Om
aha was present and delivered the
sermon. Everett Spangler and Chas.
j Boedeker were elected to the office of
church elders. Six new members were
received into the church.
The new manse is nearing com
pletion and will soon be ready for
j occupancy. The church is being re
decorated. The Women's Missionary Society
will hold a business meeting in the
church parlors Friday afternoon for
the purpose of planning the year's
work. New officers elected are Mrs.
Alice Todd, president; Mrs. Ellen
Spangler, vice president; Mrs. Grace
Kennedy, secretary-treasurer.
