MADE American Legion of Nehawka were over to Syracuse last week where they were attending the district con vention of the American Legion where they enjoyed mingling with other ex-service man in their con vention. Those who were in attend ance from Nehawka were Marion N. Tucker. Walter J. Wunderlich, W. H. Kruger and Eugene Nutzman. 'V. H. Kruger was named as the new district commander, which is a high honor for Mr. Kruger and the Nehawka post. BURNETT ASKS SUGGESTIONS Nehawka The quarries loaded three car loads of rock on last Monday and are expected to have things hustling in the quarries in a very short time. Earl Vicker from near Bennet, where he has been farming, moved last week to the former E. M. Pol lard farm where he will farm this summer. H. P. Opp of Lincoln was a visi tor In Nehawka on last Sunday and a guest of his brother, John Opp and family and looking atef some busi ness as well. O. G. Wausenitz of Louisville was a business visitor in Nehawka on last Monday and was looking after some business matters connected with the Nehawka water system. Edward Wood, the painter and de corator has been doing some interior work at the former residence of the Hon. E. M. Pollard and which is now owned by Lincoln parties. Relnhart Brandt of Unadilla, was a visitor in Nehawka, visiting with friends and looking after some mat ters of business. Mr. Brandt is a bro ther of our townsman, Wm. Brandt. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guede of Una dilla. were guests at the reception of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Blauholtz at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Kru ger on last Sunday, visiting with all the folks. Mr. and Mrs. Enos Plunket of north of Weeping Water were visit ing for the day last Sunday at the home of Mrs. Plunket's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Opp, and was accom panied by Mr. Allen Ehlers, a friend of the family. Kenneth Balfour was a visitor In Nebraska City last Saturday where he was looking after some business matters and visiting with friends. Kenneth is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Balfour and a student of the Nehawka high school. Nominate Town Board. At a caucus held last week for the nomination of candidates for the town board, they selected the follow ing for nominees, two times the num ber to be elected: JameB Pollard, ; Glen Rutlege, E. B. Summers, Clar- i ence Hanse, Wm. Obernaulte, W. J. Wunderlich. Washington. The union plan was approved "rather tentatively," Burnett said, "on condition that the students could raise thru assessment enough money to liquidate a loan against such a building within the period prescribed by the federal government." Attend Legion Meet at Plattsmonth. District Commander W. H. Kruger, with a party of the members of the Nehawka Legion post, were over to Plattsmouth on Tuesday of this week where they were attending the meet ing with the Plattsmouth post as their guests, and sure they all enjoy ed the visit and the excellent time provided by the Plattsmouth post. Elects District Commander. A number of the members of the Married at Lincoln Saturday. Miss Mary Kruger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Kruger of Nehawka, was Joined in wedlock last Saturday to Mr. Henry Blauholtz, who is a resident of Palmyra, near where Miss Kruger is teaching school, went to Lincoln where they were Joined in marriage. They came to Nehawka to visit with the parents of the bride over Sunday and departed for their home at Palmyra where Mrs. Blau holtz opened her school and the hus band went to work in the CCC camp where he is now located. Horses and Mules High. The sales of the farmers have dem onstrated the fact that horse and mule power are very much desired, for two mules which have been in the possession of Omar Schlictemeier for the past twenty years, and while they are good mules, are getting well along in years, brought when sold at a sale a few daj-s ago $160, or ?S0 each. Methodist Church Services. At the Methodist church here, there is held Bible school every Sun day morning at 10:15. Preaching by the pastor at 11:30. The Nehawka Brotherhood meets the third Tues day evening each month. At Weeping Water the Brother hood meets on the second Thursday evening of the month. Visitors from Nehawka welcome at all times, as well as to the Weeping Water church services which include preaching at 10. Bible school at 11. E. L. at 6:30 and the evening preaching service at 7:30.
