threatening weather, the warning
waa given Tuesday morning of the
approach of a severe cold wave over
the central we3t, shippers being
warned to prepare for temperatures
of from zero to ten below In this'
portion of Nebraska and western:

The change came rapidly near
noon Christmas and a severe north
wind brought with it the reminder
that winter was truly at hand and
ready to do business.
The mercury fell rapidly during
the late afternoon and evening and
this morning registered five below
in this city and Immediate vicinity.
Reports of temperatures of from
fifteen below to ten below is report
ed from points in the western section
of the state while the cold wave
sweeps on to the east.
It is predicted, however, that the
cold wave will be of short duration
and the zero weather followed by
much warmer conditions in this sec
