Reeder for County Supt. Flays False NRA Critics Acting Director of Nebraska NRA Sees Political Aim of Its Traducers. IS 'IT ' Q Vigorous condemnation of "mis leading statements being made for political purposes" by enemies or the new deal regarding work of the NRA organization in Nebraska was voiced Tuesday in a formal state ment by H. T. Williamson, acting state director for NRA. In his statement, which bears the title "Truth of the Matter," Mr. William son brands the statements as entirely false. The statement follows: "Certain misleading statements are being made for political pur poses at the present time purporting to show that the NRA organization of Nebraska is arbitrarily levying fines upon employers without giv ing the said employers an opportun ity to present their sides of the cases. These statements are entirely false. Every Right Protected. "Such alleged violations of the codes of fair competition and the president's re-employment agreement must be supported by reasonable evi dence, and thereafter they are care fully investigated In a fair. Judicial and friendly fashion. Every employ er against whom a complaint has been made Is given opportunity to meet the allegations of the com plaining parties. If, after thorough Investigation, it appears that the employer has violated his agreement with the president, the matter if handled In a manner according to law, equity and good conscience. "The rules and regulations of the state compliance director's office con tain nothing to deprive an employer cf every right and privilege which he has under the NIRA and the ad ministrative orders made pursuan thereto. Provisions are contained In the NRA regulations for appeals. The method is inexpensive and simple No fines are being levied by the state compliance office, nor will any such fines be levied. The proceeds of any settlement made, after the investigation referred to above, are paid over to the employes affected, and constitute wages Justly due the3c employes, and no part thereof Is re tained by the government. "Our attention ias een called to several Instances which . have been given misleading publicity by th opponents of NRA. Vy'e have exam ined very carefully each of these caEeB, and have found In every In stance that only one side of those iiniinniiiisniinnniiiiiiiiinniinniEininiiniiiniitniiiiiuiisiii z oat. opeciais AT MEAT DEPARTMENT GREETINGS mens.uueHR 1 Saturday, November 3rd, Marks the Opening: of Our Hew Itlen's Wear Shop in Plattsmouth IT IS our intention, not to cut prices or throats, but to merit your patronage by offering you NEW things while new and staple articles all the time to sell to masses and classes Men's Wear of standard quality at prices often paid for inferior goods. It is no business secret that the old firm of Philip Thierolf conducted a very conservative credit business. However, each year, hundreds of dollars in accounts were charged off as uncollectable. After one year of painstaking, friendly effort on the part of administrator, attorney and collection agencies, there remain thousands of dollars in unpaid accounts nothing will force payment but law suits, and in the major ity of cases a worthless judgment is all that can be expected therefrom. Therefore, This New Firm will Sell for SPOT CASH Spot cash eliminates these costly losses as well as the expense of book keeping, and the savings will be passed on to you with each purchase. Some may take exceptions to this drastic change in policy, but we firmly believe that our budget plan will make it easy for the "charge" customer and we know to a certainty that we can and will sell you goods cheaper than any credit concern can or will undertake to do. We have also found that these complaints of unfairness did not or iginate with the employers in ques tion, but were searched out and en larged upon by those wishing to use them for political gain. "As everybody knows, there arc always two sides to every question. If the critics of NRA had exercised the same fairness that the NRA or ganization does.iand carefuly inves tigated the sad instances from both sides before passing Judgment, they would have found that these cases were handled in a judicious and fair manner. They would have found that the payment of back wages was fully Justified. "It Is apparent that, in any com petitive trade or industry, those em ployers who conscientiously comply with wage and hour provisions ol codes of fair competition such pro visions merely establishing minimum requirements are grossly discrim inated against by those employers rvho do not so comply. Thl3 state ment is equally applicable to the other provisions ot the codes of fair competition. "In conclusion, it is both neces sary and proper to say that those critics who utilize the press, the platform and the curbstone to criti cize officers of the government who are earnestly and advisedly under taking to secure compliance with a law regularly enacted by congress designed to lift business out of ite severely depressed condition and tc confer upon the average American citizen a modicum of security and happiness, are rendering the en forcement of this law more and more difficult. V.'e look and listen in vain to this criticism for some positive plan to attain the objective of the NIRA." BIG SPRINGS MAN DIES Big Springs, Neb.
