school teacher. Seven years secretary
and treasurer in wholesale house
life-long business experience. Accom
modating, qualified and the right
man for the office. Paid taxes to
county treasurer 45 years, but never
drew any out.
CHAEGED WITH POSSESSION
Deputy Sheriff Tom Walling was
called to the vicinity of Cedar Creek
on Saturday evening by the report
that a party was busily engaged in
the sale of intoxicating beverages at
a dance being given in that section
of the county despite the protests of
the dance management and others.
The deputy sheriff arrested Jeff Pen
ton, a resident of that section. There
was some thirteen pints of moon
shine whiskey as well a3 forty quarts
of that once famous beverage home
brew.
This morning the case came on for
hearing and the defendant was giv
en a fine of $100 and costs for the
offense.

Mrs. Joseph Vanek, residing on
Lincoln avenue, was taken to Omaha
Sunday where she was operated on
for a severe case of hernia. Mrs.
Vanek has stood the operation nice
ly and it is hoped that she may soon
be on the highway to recovery and
to return to her home here.
