The kittenball fans had the op
portunity Monday night of witness
ing the two new teams of the league
in action against two of the veteran
teams, the Hovers especially making
an impressive showing and both of
the new teams with more practice
and experience will make it tough go
ir.r fr.r the other members of the
circuit.
The Orphans and the Bobcats were
featured in the opening bill and un
til the sixth inning the Bobcats were
held pcoreless but in that stanza of
the battle the hard hitting of E.
Meisinger, Salsburg and Mayabb, re
sulted in three scores for their total,
the Orphans winning 9 to 3.
The Orphans started their attack
in the second inning when they an
nexed two scores and followed this
in the third with a hard hitting at
tack that gave them three scores.
The Orphans added two mere each
in the fifth and sixth.
The box score of the game was

The funeral of Mrs. William Mor
ley was held this morning at 9 o'clock
at the St. John's Catholic church,
the requiem mass of the church be
ing celebrated by Father Patrick
Harte, pastor ot the St. Patrick's
church at Manley. During the serv
ice, John J. Cloidt gave as solo num
bers, "There Is No Heart Like
Thine," and "Thy 'Will Be Done."
The interment was at the Catholic1

cemetery west of the city.

Mrs. Jennie Klimm of near Mur
ray and Mrs. Ivan Balfour of Union,
who have just returned from the
Mother's camp at Crete, on their re
turn trip stopped for a short time at
Lincoln. They visited the state peni
tentiary for a short time and enjoy
ed a trip through the buildings. They
found the inmates busy at games as
this has taken up a large part of
their time since the closing of the
various shops of the prison.

Fords Win From Rovers.
The Ford V-S. team . started a
merry-go-round In the first inning
of their game with the Rovers by
scoring 11 runs and winning the
game 15 to 10.
The opening inning was a wierd
exhibition with hits, errors and poor
Judgment on the part of the Rovers
adding to the V-S's scoring. In this
inning Bob Brittain added to the
route with a home run. The V-8's
were not forced to exert themselves
greatly and scored one run in fourth
and three in the seventh.
The Rovers in their opening in
ning scored four runs with four hits
and an outfield error, one of the hits
being a circuit drive by Ethen, first
sacker of the rovers.
The Rovers added two more runs
in the fifth and three in the sixth to
give the customers a thrill and the
vision that a rally might overcome
the lead of the Fords but the V-S's
whizzed on by to win.

The Kruger paint store, wnich
has been located in the Hotel Riley
building, was removed Sunday to the
Bekin building just across the street
on Xorth Sixth street. The move
was made necessary by the fact that
II r. Lapidus. the new owner of the
hotel building is. contemplating some
extensive changes in the building
and which requires the vacating of
the various rooms. Mr. Kruger is
now located in. the new room and
ready for business as usual.

Charles Howard, departed Sunday
evening for Lorarn, Ohio, where they
will enjoy a short visit. They will
visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

At 8 o'clock Tuesday evening. Miss
Evelyn Mae Barkhurst, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Barkhurst, be
came the wife of Lea Abbott, son of
Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Abbott of Ne
braska City. The ceremony took
place at the home of the bride'3 par
ents at Union, before a background
of ferns, with candelabra at each
! side. Rev. Ronald McKinzic of Alvo
officiated, in the presence of scven-
ty-nve guests. I'recccling the cere
mony, Miss Eleanor Spivey sang.
! Miss Bertha Blank of Franklin, ac
companied, and played the Lohen-
! grin wedding march. The bride en
tered on the arm of her father. Her
J gown was cf floor length blue crepe,
trimmed in pink chiffon velvet, and
flie carried a colonial bouquet of
pink roses and baby breath. Miss
Velma Barkhurst, as her sister's
maid of honor, wore yellow organdy
and carried a colonial bouquet of
talisman roses. Miss Evelyn Hcstoa,
bridesmaid, were green organdy. Ker
bouquet was of yellow roses. Helen
Connor of Minneapolis, w as the Row
er girl, wearing blue organdy. Ivan
Barkhurst, brother of the bride, was
best man. Ushers were Miss Joan
Wallis cf Pawnee City, and Miss
Adeline Sar of Wakefield. At the re
ception following the wedding. Miss
Annabel! Abbott of Nebraska City,
was in charge of the guest beck, and
Miss May Ilcston of the gift room.
Miss Wallis and Miss Sar assisted
with the serving. Appointments were
in pastel shades. The couple left
immediately after the reception for
Dallas, Tex., where they will make
their home. The bride's traveling
suit was cf light blue crepe, with
navy accessories. Mrs. Abbott is a
graduate of Nebraska "Weslcyan uni
versity, where she joined Alpha Gam
ma Delta sorority. Mr. Abbott has
attended the University of Nebraska
and is affiliated with Sigma Chi fra
ternity. He is an air mail pilot sta
tioned at Dallas.
