YOUNG PEOPLE ARE WEDDED
On Saturday evening at the resi
dence of Judge A. H. Duxbury occur
red the marriage of Miss Verna Marie
Diederich and Mr. H. L. Zeiger, both
of Omaha, who had motored to this
popular Gretna Green for the con
sumation of their life's happiness.
The marriage lines were read by
Judge Duxbury and the ceremony
witnessed by Mrs. Duxbury and Jo
seph Hadraba.
At the Presbyterian manse on Sat
urday evening occurred the marriage
of Miss Elizabeth Norelius and Mr.
II. Wesley Sevde, both of Omaha. The
marriage ceremony was performed by
Rev. II. G. McClusky, D. D., pastor
of the First Presbyterian church.
FUNERAL AT LOUISVILLE

This afternoon at Louisville occur
red the funeral of Noah Stafford, a
former resident of that city, who
died on Monday at Malmo. Mr. Staf
ford resided at Malmo for the past
several years and a few days ago was
taken with an attack of pneumonia
and from which he failed to rally.
He is survived by the widow and two
daughters, one of whom is Mrs. Mar
tin Grefe of LiOiflsville.

DEATH OF ARTHUR STUEBER
The death of Arthur A. Stueber,
signal superintendent of the Bur
lington, occurred Tuesday at the lam
ily home, 1126 Peach street, Lincoln,
following an attack of pneumonia
Mr. Stueber was well known in this
city where he has been a frequent
visitor in looking after the signal
work in this section of the Burling
ton. He is survived by the widow
and three children, all residing at
home. The funeral service will be
hplrl Thursday afternoon at 3:30
from the Plymouth Congregational
church, Lincoln. Burial will be In
charge of East Lincoln lodge No.
210 A. P. & A. M.
The many old time friends here
will learn with regret of the death
of Mr. Steuber and extend to the
family their deepest sympathy.
RETURNS TO CHICAGO '

- This morning Edward Flynn, op
erating vice-president of the Bur
lington, passed through. this city, his
private car being attached to train
No. 6. Mr. Flynn has been on an in-
SDection trip of the lines west of the
Burlington and. is now returning to
his headquarters at Chicago. Mr.
Flynn is one of the well known rail
road men of the west, for many years
being the superintendent at Omaha
and Lincoln and in the past a ire-
quent visitor nn this city.

Lincoln, July 9. Governor Charles
W. Bryan Sunday night said the
state's tentative plans forsthe emer
gency road building program in Ne
braska had been submitted to federal
authorities and he hoped soon to be
able to announce the projects in
cluded. "I hesitate," Bryan said, "to
announce anything until the
state program has been accept
ed at ' Washington. It would -cause
much confusion if we an
nounced our recommendations
and then were asked by federal
officials to change part of the
program."
The governor said, however, that
due to the large number of delega
tions which have been coming to
Lincoln to see him, he might make
some tentative announcements before
final approval is given the state pro
gram at Washington.
Bryan said he received five tele
grams Saturday and two Sunday from
South Sioux City appealing for a pro
gram there which would put their
unemployed to work quickly. Paving
of Highway 77 from . Dakota City
south to Homer partciularly was
urged.
