License Measures
Now in Effect
Governor Bryan Signs Kenbaner and
Stringfellow Bills This Morn
ing $3 and $5 for Cars
From Tuesday's Dally
Governor Bryan this morning at
tached hia signature to both the Neu
bauer .auto license and Stringfellow
truck license bill3. As each carries
the emercencv clause, they become
ecective immediately."
Under the terms of the auto li
cense measure, all cars under 2,800
pounds list weight will be licensed
for $3 per year, while heavier pas
senger cars will cost $5 per year.
The old rates were $8 and $12
with the weight classification divid
ing on 2,700 pounds. Owners of cars
who have secured their plates at the
old rate are entitled to a rebate of
the difference, to-wit: $5 on cars of
under 2,700 pounds weight, $7 on
cars over 2,800 pounds weight, and
$9 on cars of between 2,700 and
2,800 pounds weight.
The line forms at the right, gen
tlemen, so step right up and pass
your $3 or 5, as the case may be
across the window at the county
treasurer's office and get your bright
new orange colored license plates.
As the time for securing plates is
now long overdue, only a short grace
period will be allowed. '

HAVE PLEASANT MEETING
The members of the Y. M. B. C.
held another of their pleasant Sun
day evening "cottage" meetings last
evening at the home of Judge and
Mrs. A. H. Duxbury. The class had
as an honor guest, Mrs. B. C. Kerr,
one of the old members of the Meth
odist church and who by her age and
condition finds it impossible to at
tend the church services regularly.
The class had the usual song serv
ice and in addition there was a de
votional period and the reading of
the favorite sections of the class mem
bers. Rev. C. O. Troy, pastor of the
church also gave a very interesting
address to the class that was much
appreciated by the group of young
men and their guests.
