Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Head Dorothy and Warren, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Pollard for the past week, left Sunday for their home in Palmyra. Missouri. Mr. Head this year is president of the Missouri State Fair which begins next week. Miss Leona Friday evening Pollard entertained at a slumber party and breakfast Saturday morning In honor of her guest. Miss Dorothy Head. The Musketeers, the musical trio, were over to Union to play for an old fashioned dance which was be ing given at the M. W. A. hall at that place on Wednesday evening. Sure the boys can make good music, they being Thomas Mason, Roy Lancaster and Ted McLain. On Tuesday of this week John Opp passed the half hundred year mark in the journey of life, and the kid dies greased his nose and gave him some fifty love pats as well as smie more substantial present. John is getting along nicely and enjoying this life, thank you. Imogene Young, daughter .it Mr. and Mrs. Parr Young was oyer to Lincoln late last weelt where r-lie had her tonsils removed, as they had been giving this young woman much truble during the recent past. She underwent the ordeal niceiy and is showing good recovery. A small amount of damage was done to the D. ('. West uCSBe Satur day morning when fire from the oil stove burned the walls of the back porch. The fire was discovered by Mrs. West and although the fire truck was immediately called it was not necessary to use it. Trie Cre was put out by water. The Rev. Otto Engbre.sen and wife, who have been spending the past two weeks in the northern por tion of Minnesota where they w. re visiting with friends and also en joying the fishing and outing, re turned home late last week and were here in time for the services at the two places of worship. Mr. and Mrs. Kphrium Oaks of Fairbury were visiting with friends in Nehawka. Murray and north of Nehawka. they driving fiver and when they had arrived iere found Mrs. Oaks sister. Mrs. Wm. Patterson had gone to the hospital in Omaha where she was having an operation on her eyes to remove a cataract. Miller Ohristensen and the fam ily, who were taking their vacation on last week, spent about the entire week in various points in Iowa where they visited many interesting and important places. They also were guests of friends at many places where they visited. They returned home last week, well pleased with the weeks vacation. Charles Philpot. who is an obi s t tier in Cass county, demonstrated that his heart was in the right place when he accompanied the booster trip for the county fair on last Fri day on their round swing of the county, visiting each and every town in the county and returning to his home at Weeping Water, enthused for the wonderful fair which is to be held at Weeping Water from the 15th to the 18th of September. Be sure and do not miss this event. Enjoyed Wonderful Time. The American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary of Nehawka enjoy ed a gathering at the Nehawka audi torium on last Friday when they served a very fine dinner in the eve ning and which was attended by some 120 of the people who are en thusiastic to assist these two patrio tic bodies. Will Teach In North. Mrs. Wm. Gorder of Plattsmouth, who is soon to depart for Okcreek. South Dakota, where she will teach the coming term at the some school where she was the instructor last year, was entertained as wt 11 as the remainder of the family, at .he home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. The fourth annual reunion of the Lewis family was appropriately cele brated at the Btatjb park. Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City, on Sunday, Aug ust 16th and which was set for the third Sunday in August, the one the coming year to be at the same place Arbor Lodge as was appointed at the meeting of Sunday. The older mem bers of the family were mostly born in and near Oregon. Mo. They en joyed the reunion in a very fine way with visiting and relating lumines cences of the other times when all were young and resided fn the old home community. They had prepar ed an abundance of good things to eat and were well supplied in that way. And sure they enjoyed the eats as well as the social friendship and visits that the occasion afforded. A few of the older members of the fam ily were not able to be present. Among those were Solomon Lewis of Missouri, Mrs. M. M. Lesrts of Mul len, -Missouri and Mrs. J. K. Attend Cass Comity Fair. The ("ass county fair i to be at Weeping Water beginning on tember L&th and continuing held Sep four days and where there are already a promise of a larger display than a olher previous exhibition of this character ever held in the county. On last Friday there was a booster trip made over the county, starting from Weeping Water in the morning, sad making every town in the Bounty. There were some three the procession and all the county were visited ome given the boosters hundred in portions of and a wel frosB every hamlet and portion of the farming communities. The ones making tlie trip were well paid, for they saw -ome of the very best crops growing that ever grew out of doors and uracil of whih will be on exhibition at the fair the coming month. An celleiit dinner was served at Louis ville and which was thoroughly en joyed by the boosters. Have Water Fight. On last Monday evening a crew of water fighters of Weeping Water which Consisted of Leonard Doty, Charles Joyce and Cash Sylvester, and who were opposed by the team from Otoe where the contest was held and which team consisted of John 1 0 rau ff. Bud Earlham and Fox Del- Ion. The contest was sure a spirited one as there was more than a hun dred pounds of pressure on the wa- ter and the streams cut like so much rock. The eye of Mr. Earlham .i -badly injured as well as was the one of Leonard Doty. The team of ot oc was victorious in the scrimmage. Blind Comer Causes Wreck. At a cross roads a few miles north of Nehawka on last Tuesday morn ing as J. M. Teegarden, was approach ing the corner near the home of A. D. Murdock and was having to climb a grade, and a high bank screened the road leading to the south, from which direction the car of Mrs. Glen Rutlene with three lady friends in her car were on their way to Omaha and neither could see the other un til tiny both popped out in the inter section with the result that the ear of Mr. Teegarden ran into the side of the car driven by Mrs. But lege. with the result that the car driven by Mrs. BUtlegB was rolled over iii the ditch and the occupants badly shaken up but no one seriously In jured. The car of Mr. Teegarden was slid for fifteen feet before the im- j pact. Mr. Teegarden jumped from his car and rushed to the relief of 'the ladies who were all able to get out of the car. The trip to Omahs 'was spoiled for the ladies and their car had to be hauled back home while j Mr. Teegarden was able to drive his car home. Both cars were covered I by Insurance, but both had to i turned over to the tender mercies of ithe repair man. It was fortunate that no fine was badly injured.
