Prison life in this country is get
ting to be more and more revolting.
:o:
What a great country this would be
if it grew as rapidly as its prison
p-pulaticn!
:o:
Maybe they want three houses of
Congress so they can have one dry,
medium and wet.
-:o:
Shakespeare knew it all. "For a
windy night," quoth he in Sonnet
90, "a rainy morrow."
: o :
If it wasn't for dancing we reckon
a lot of girls wouldn't ever know
what it means to perspire.
:o:
Seems that they investigate every
thing about primaries except the
quality of men who run for office.
:o:
When you Fee her snuggled up that
close to him it means she hasn't
started in to do back seat driving
yet.
:o:
Sunday is a good day in which to
wonder whether any of our friends
will figure in the Monday morning
casuaiity list.
:o:-
Women have robbed man of about
everything else, hut they haven't
found any excuse for using up his
shaving cream yet!
Somebody has stolen the corner
stone of a church in Los Angeles. No
doubt he figured "the better the
stone, the better the theft."
-tot-
It's just possible that if some of the
modern wives used more elbow grease
around the house they wouldn't have
so much fat to worry about.
"The older a tree the less it exudes
eap," says a forestry expert. It may
be true of trees, but it certainly does
not apply to human beings.
We don't know of any word that
gets more wear and tear than "MY"
but it is strange how seldom you ever
see it used before the word "Fault."
:o:-
If President Hoover can get Con
gress to build as many prisons as we
seem to need, there will be no end
for all time to such a thing as unem
ployment. :o:-
The reason we don't believe pants
will become popular with the girls is
because skirts make it so much easier
to keep the shapely legs and expen
sive hose from being a total loss.
Don't spoil the fun of the poor
harmless insects! Put away your
winter clothes in moth balls so that
the moths can lay out their 18-hole
golf course for the summer months.
:o:-
"The earth is speeding up," says
an astroncmer. Undoubtedly true.
We are all traveling at a dizzy pace,
don't know exactly where v. e are go
ing, and most folks don't give a darn.
:o:
Well, anyhow, it is definitely
known where Mr. Morrow, of New
Jersey, stands on the prohibition
question, and that is more than can
always be said in regard to senatorial
candidates.
: o :
Maybe the reason given women
the vote hasn't made such a whale of
a lot of difference in politics is be
becauso we gave them the cigarette,
the flask and the right to be as
ornery as the male about the sam.

The proposal that Texas be divid

Texas is bail enough.
:o:
The old saying, the bigger they
are the harder they fall, surely was
not intended for parachutes.
The result of the Pennsylvania pri
maries go back to a confusion of
issues, personalities and record.

Si Dry, the only prohibitionist in
Burlington, says the people can't be
buying all the corks to put on fish

Now the wet Republicans have a

what they have been looking for
Dwight W. Morrow.

It nay reach the point where the

a drink of fruit juice with a cake

John Phillips Sousa led twenty
Salvation Army bands at one time.
It takes a real genius to lead even
one Salvation Army band.

Among the very hard problem deal

kids bring home from school and ask
their parents to help solve.
:o:
, Down in-Alabama Mrs. Democracy
is suing Senator Tom Heflin for an
absolute divorce decree, and it looks
like she is going to get it, but with
out alimony.
:o:'
This is the time of year the poor
dad who wasn't built to wear a belt
starts getting bawled out by mother
and the girls for sitting around with
out his coat.
The Florida authorities are still
battling with Scarface Al Capone. If
the Florida courts want to be real
playful they should amputate Al's
toes around his neck.

That sculptor who chopped down
the wordage of Mr. Coolidge's moun

man if they give him a shot at the
Congressional Record.
-:o:
One or the nicest things about lis
tening to a radio sermon is that peo
ple in the congregation do not turn
and stare at you when the preacher
denounces your pet sin.
:o:
"What is wanted." demands an ex
change, "is a census that is correct."
And a correct census is one that
shows a larger growth in your town
than in the neighbor town.
;o:
The watermelon, we are informed,
contains vitamins A. B. C. and G.
And the proper way to eat "water
melon, in cur opinion, is so that you
get all the various vitamins in your
ears.
:o:
Vanity ia not confined wholly to
the fair sex. We saw a man in the
adjoining barber chair the other day
who didn't have more than a dozen
strands of hair on his cranium, yet
he was so fussy over the way the bar
be was combing them as though he
had as much hair as Paderwski.

CUT THAT MELON
Our per capita circulation, they
tell us, is now down to $37 its low
est level since April, 1914. Well, a
let of water has run under the
bridges in these 16 galloping years
and, so without more ado, we declare,
without fear of successful contra
diction, that the time is ripe for di
viding up and passing around the $6,
000,000,000 which, Prof. Irving
Fisher has said, prohibition has been
depositing in our bank accounts every
merry twelve months. Yes, the hour
has struck to cut that melon.
-:o:-
Since the crushing defeat in the
Republican Senatorial primary in
Pennsylvania perhaps Senator
Grundy doesn't think quite so highly
of his own ideas on the subject of
taiiff legislation.
First it was the telephone, then
the microphone and now the icono
phone is announced. This world is
getting more phony all the time.
