Union Schools Doing Nicely.
At the dinner of the I'nion llusi-
ness Men a nun, wnien was pervec
at the Clark hotel, and by the way
was a most excellent dinner, was
attended by over twenty of the mem
bers of the club. Superintendent of
the I'nion schools. Professor James
Marsell. spoke regarding the condi
tion of the schools, which have made
much progress during thus far in the
school year. In all branches of this
school marked progress is being
made. The levy for the I'nion schools
is only eight milles. and among the
lowest in the state. He also said
that there should be some more
money for the school, but that they
are doing very fine work with what
limited money they have. In his ad
dress he said he had just heard an
other definition for education. It is
the condition of learning which
makes a town where it incvidenre.
a better place to live, and a bette,
place to engage in business, and also
makes a better town in every re
spect. He also said statistics showed
that the education of the AnK-ricn :i
people cost less than tobacco, hootch
or gasoline. He says that the I'nion
schools is getting in full all that
she pays in taxes for her schools.
Will Be Worth While.
At the dinner of the I'nion Busi
ness Men's Club next week which
will be served at the Clark hotel,
special arrangements have been per
fected for the entertainment of the
dinners, in that the Cle Club of
the I'nion school will render a num
ber of songs, and among which will
be some Christmas carols.
