Elizabeth Robb spent her Thanks giving vacation- with her grand father, Mont Robb, much to the en joyment of the Robb household. Herman Reicke who is one of the very best farmers, just completed the picking of his corn and? reports an eighty- acre field ; which averaged a little over fifty-five bushels per acre. Todd entertained at her home in east Union the mem bers of the Woman's club of Union, where a good time was had by all the ladies as well as doing some ex cellent work with a fine program and being entertained by Mrs. Todd most charmingly. Many people from Nebraska City and Plattsmouth were visiting in Union on Thanksgiving day and en Joyed the dinner at the Baptist church basement where one of the very finest of repasts was served, and enjoyed by all who partook of the excellent eats. Kieck against Francisco Acosta, Mexican, - who was arrested a few days ago at the Foreman home near Alvo where he had made en- trance and was frightening the tarn . The complaint charged the man with breaking and, entering and to the charge a plea of not guilty was entered by the defendant. --,.-" The court after-hearing-the faets presented,, bound the defendant over to the district court for trial and the case will be.Ul;en up next week in the court before the Jury. Griffin and Sunday in company with Mrs. Grif fin, departed for Nehawka to spend the day with relatives at that place. From Tuesday's Dally E. D. Snoke and J. Clark Gon zales of Eimwood came in last even ing to take up their work as mem bers of the petit Jury panel in the district court. Attorney V. E. Tyler and Attor ney Lloyd Peterson of Nebraska City were here today to try the case of Proper vs. Becker in the district court, representing Mr. Proper. William Atchison, bailiff in the district court, arrived last evening to take up hia duties in the court today. Attorney D. W. Livingston of Ne braska City was here today : for a few hours attending to some matters at-the court house. Mrs. George Innea, of near Gillette, Wyoming, a neighbor of the S. S. Gooding family of this city during their residence in the west, was here over Sunday visiting the old friends. The meeting was held at the coun try home of Mrs. Mary Toman near Murray, at which time Mrs. Berger gave instructions on the scope of the federation and the benefits to be derived from affiliating with the state and general federation. At the close of the meeting with Mrs. Ber I ger this club voted to Join the Ne ' braska Federation of Women's clubs. The officers are as follows:- President, Mrs. J. W. Hendricks, Plattsmouth ; vice president, Mrs. George Park, Murray, Route 1; sec retary-treasurer, Mrs. George Toman, MuIay The club has' a membership of twenty rural women. They plan , to study home demonstration. Some of the topics are "Nebraska Facts," "Some Nebraska Traditions," "Keep ing the Confidence of Children," "The Housewife and Her Workshop," and other subjects dealing with prob lems of home-making. The club plans to divide the mem bers into four groups, and each group is to plan a social evening for the members and their families. All truck owners must furnish a weight certificate when application for license is made. , All Ford truck owners who have not paid the fee In excess of $15.00 will be required by law to do so, provided the weight certificate shows the weight of the truck to be 2100 lbs. or more. The farm truck controversy Is now settled, and the law is in full foree and effect. Applications for farm truck license shall be made as fol lows. Each farmer owning a truck weighing 4000 lbs. or less and usee the truck for farm purposes only, will be entitled to a farm truck li cense for the fee of -8.00; provided an affidavit is furnished to that ef fect. Affidavits for application may be obtained either at the County Treasurer's office or at the banks. A standard scale weight certificate must accompany each affidavit. The 1929 registration o frenewals will begin December l6t, 1928. Any car or truck purchased any time between October 1st and De cember 31st inc. must first be reg istered for the last quarter of 1928, before the 1929 license can be is sued.
