MR. FRHD RAUBACH, Valentine, Ne
braska, who sells Dodge Brothers motor
vehicles and Graham Brothers Trucks, decided
to test this new fuel in his own car before
forming an opinion. He wrote us this letter :
"It has been rumored extensively that R.ed
Crown Ethyl Gasoline would not eliminate
fuel knock and would be detrimental to the
working parts of the motor. As soon as I got
this gas in, I was determined to use it in my
personal car, which is a 1926 Dodge sedan.
"I find it not only eliminates all fuel Ifriocs,

farmance.
"Upon one of my drives to the sand hills, I
drove sixty-one and one-half miles on two
gallons of Red Crown Ethyl Gasoline,
where it would have taken three gallons
of the ordinary gasoline
"I have now driven more than three thou
sand miles orRed Crown Ethyl Gasoline
and have not nad a fuel knock, nor have I
had any other moti r trouble of any kind.
"Upon checking over my gasoline sales, I find
that Red Crown I thy I Gasoline has in
creased my sales coi iiderably.
"I cannot recommer. it too highly to any
one for a motor fuc'i".
Follow Mr. Raubacr 's plan and see how Red
Crown Ethyl Gasoiii e works in your motor.
This matchless fuel is a combination of always
reliable Red Crown C asoline and Ethyl Brand
Anti-Knock Compound.
Sold by reliable dealers and Red Crown'

SMITH'S VICTORY:

Significant and ;nisive as Gov.

him.
McAdoo is the political foe of Gov.
Smith in the pending presidential
contest for the Democratic nomina
tion. He has not only attacked C.v.
Smith, but picked Senator Walsh of
Montana, prohibitionist and Cath
olic, to beat Smith. He put ,-,11 of
his available strength back of Sen
ator Walsh's candidacy. Senator
Walsh has made no progress in gain
ing delegates outsitbof his own State
of Montana.
McAdoo entered Senator Walsh in
McAdoo's State of California. The
result was an overwhelming defeat
of McAdoo and his candidate. In the
three-cornered fight between Smith.
Senator Reed of Missouri and .Walsh.
McAdoo's candidate was a poor third.
Smith got more votes than the com
bined votes of both of his opponents.
It is particularly significant that
in ; Los Angeles Cuntv. McAdoo's
home, hitheto overwhelmingly dry.
Smith led the vote. Smith received
in 17S" out of 2")77 precincts; 2.
20; IUed 17.i40 and Walsh 12.
710. At his first test of strength and
influence in popular vote, McAdoo
faalls. His own people repudiate him.
He is outside the Democratic breast
works. Two conclusions may he drawn
from the Smith vote in California.
One is that Smith is popular with
Democratic voters in the West. The
other, that there is a decided reac
tion against prohibition voters
hitherto dry. On his record. Gov.
Smith is regarded as a leading anti
prohibitionist. Yet in a popular vote
against a dray candidate, in dry ter
ritory, he has won an overwhelming
majority.
The California vote is regarded
generally as assuring the nomina
tion of Gov. Smith by the Houston
convention. He is credited with f28
delegates, within 23 of a majority.
This strong lead undoubtedly will be
influential in other states and un
pledged delegations. The final result,
however, is still in the realm of pre
diction and speculation. The Gover
nor is certainly a presidential sprint

Senator Walsh ran third in th

to the Associated Press report, his
"failure to register more heavily was
also a surprise." It may have sur

but we doubt that it has surprised
the country as a whole. In any event,
Mr. Walsh's showing can readily be
accounted for. The truth is that his
candidacy has never been accepted as
sincere by the country as a whole.
This impression i'l no wise reflects
upon the character of Senator Walsh
