DIES FOLLOWING AMPUTATION Fred W. Race passed away Satur day evening in a Los Angeles hospit al, following the amputation of his left leg that day. Two weeks ago, while walking in a park in that city, he was struck by a falling tree, and the bones in his left leg badly crushed.- The tree was a big eucalyptus. Mr. Race formerly lived here, but has made his home in Los Angeles for the past three years. He was about 74 years of age. His wife Mrs. Eliza Race is the only daughter of Mr. E.
