Trenholm of Elmwood was a visitor in Alvo last Wednesday, looking after some business matters. In the ball game which was play last week between the teams of Alvo and Weeping Water, the former won over the visitors by a score of 16 to C. , Joseph Romlnes, who formerly was a resident of Alvo, but who Is at this time working in Lincoln, was a visitor in Alvo for a short time last week. W. C. Timlin, living northeast of Alvo, was on the stock market last Wednesday with a mixed car of cat tle and hogs, which he had shipped the day before. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence France and the children of Lincoln, were visit ins last Sunday in Alvo. being the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Art Dinges. Mcsdames France and Dinges are sisters. Messrs. Chris Neben and Charles Haertle, Jr., shelled and delivered corn at the Rehmeyer elvator during the past week. Walter Heiers was also hauling wheat from last year's crop to the elevator. Last Sunday was a nice day and also it brought joy to the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Scheesley, for qn that day there was born to them a. daughter which is galddening their home and their lives. Mrs. William Burllngame and son, Harry, of Beatrice, were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenow for a few days during the past week, Mrs. Rurlinganie being the mother of Mrs. Rosenow. At the school meeting which was held last week there was a good rep resentation present and the regular business for which the meeting was called was transacted, provision be ing made for the expenses for the cniing year. Mrs. Addie Thomas, who has been staying in California for some time past, arrived in Alvo last Thursday, and is visiting and making her home with her cousin. Mrs. C. H. Klrk patrlck, and will expect to make her home in Alvo during the sum mer. Arthur Dinges went to Lincoln a few days ago and returned with a new Universal coupe which he will have for himself and wife and which will make an excellent car for both these excellent people, both of whom are expert drivers, and know when they are using a good car. Last Wednesday R. M. Coalman hauled a load of stock to Omaha and after delivering them, went to Ben nington where he secured the house hold goods of Mrs. Ackley, bringing them to Alvo. where she with- the mother had but recently engaged in business In the restaurant. The merchants of Alvo have en tered into a contract with a moving picture concern for another half year of service, which they are giving free to all on Saturday nights. The serial which has been running for some time, closed last Saturday evening and the new contract will begin on June 20th. This will be different, every number being an en tire number by Itself, with a comic added. Mrs. Paul Toressen, formerly Miss Grace Foreman, now of Riverside, California, will arrive in Alvo in a short time for a visit with her moth er Mrs. George P. Foreman, and will also be joined by her sister. Mrs. George Whiteman, of Los Angeles, formerly Miss Minnie Foreman, they cocjing to visit with the mother, who has been very sick at her home in Alvo for some time and whose con dition i. very poorly at this time. John Fkinner has purchased a nw Chevrolet coach, which carries four people and with his friends. Edward Craig and Miss Irene Friend of Alvo and Miss Peterson, of Lin coln, initiated the new car last Sun day whilo on their way to Liberty, where they went to visit with friends and relatives of Mr. Craig. They met one of those rains of which there were a number that day and had to stop and eit along the road until the storm was over. Mrs. O. E. Steele Very Sick Mrs. O. E. Steele, living south west of Alvo, has been in poor health for some time and last week was compelled to go to a hospital In Om aha where she Is to receive treat ment and probably an operation for her health, she being afflicted with internal cancers. Her many friends are hoping she may be at the hos pital but a short time and be re stored to her health and able to re turn to her home. Want Parking Regulated The city dads cf Alvo seeing the necessity of a uniform system or narblnsr and other government of automobiles, have drafted a new or dinance which they will expect to pass in the near future, looking to the compelling of! Its observation, re garding the handling of the traffic and the parking of cars. Departed for the West George Hall and wife and their son. Teddy, departed last Wednesday for the west in their car and will travel overland for the Pacific. Some time since they had their sale and disposed of their holdings in this neighborhood and have since been visiting at the homes of their sons Sumner and Brunswick and their daughter. Mrs. Louis Borne meier. near Murdock, and on Wed nesday of last week departed for the west. They will visit their con. Stanley Hall, who is making his home at Los, Angeles, and will if the country appeals to them, make their home there in the future. They will in any event expect to be away for a year. Chautauqua in September Alvo Is to have a Chautauqua and has made a most excellent selection and the dates which have, been se lected will be on September 4, 5 and 6, a three days stand. The funeral in honor of this excellent woman , was held from the Methodist church In Alvo, of which she was a member. The Rev. C. Kellogg was born at Charles City, Iowa, May 23rd, 1871, and with her parents came to Ne braska when she was but one year of age, and grew to womanhood here, living most of her life In Cass county. March 20, 1897, she was united In marriage with William E. Schaffer and to this union, were born one daughter, elen, who survives her mother and if left to mourn her de parture.
