Miss Edna Stoll spent Wednesday at the Elmer Philpot home. Mr. Will Froap was a caller at the R. Kettlehut home Thursday. Lawn Stock and family wre Sun day guests at the Jess Dodson home. llerold Moyer of Fort Omaha took supper Saturday evening; at the El mer Philpot home. John Chappelle and wife and Vilas Sheldon attended the state fair Wed nesday. Mrs. Rache Colvin spent a few hours with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Reed of Weeping Water. Miss Bessie Murdoch and Eskie Stock were Sunday guests of Miss Tessze Philpot's. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Murdoch and son. Guy, and Miss Bessie Philpot at tended the state fair Monday. D. C. West of the Nehawka bank was looking after some business mat ters in Omaha the first of the week.. Little Gladys Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Campbell, south of Nehawka, has been very sick for the past few days. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lake of Omaha were visiting in Nehawka being guests of their friend Joseph M. Johnson of the Johnson garage. II. II. Stoll was a business visitor in Nebraska City last Monday and was accompanied by his daughter. Frank Pollard who has .- some Hampshire hogs at the state fair was fortunate in receiving the second prize alsb the eighth and the fourth on boars. He has some -very good hogs. " - ' Peter Campbell and wife are now in the west where they are putting in some 250 acres of wheat in Chase county for themselves and also 100 acres for Fred Beil who has land near them. Horace Griffin was looking after some matters in Plattsmouth last Sunday nd also visiting at the home of his parents the family accompany ing him they all making the trip In his auto. . R. ' Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Troop of Ne hawka and Robert Troop and wife of Plattsmouth were looking after some business and visiting with friends in Omaha last Tuesday making the trip in the car of the former. The sons of R. Kettlehut have cap tured and have tied up two now near ly half grown coyotes which were only kittens when they were cap tured. They will expect to kill them and save the pelts for fur. Mrs. Mary McConnaugh of Blair who used to live in this neighborhood when her husband then practiced medicine through this country, has been visiting with friends here for the past week and was accompanied by her two sons, Earl and Elmer. John Griffin who had his eye in jured some time since while at his work and who was compelled to lay off for some three weeks, was able to return to his place the first of this week though he is not entirely re covered and has to treated some yet. John Frans who is an employe of the ' Burlington in their shops in Plattsmouth was at Nehawka last Sunday and on returning was ac companied by Mrs. Frans and Bobbie who will make their home in the county seat where they have rented a house. " , ' . Henry M. Pollard is erecting a house for Frank P. Sheldon on the land just across the road from the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Fleisch man. The house-' house is to be a two room structure, 16x24, and will be occupied by W. A. Hick3 who will farm the land which it is on. Mrs. W. A. Lewis who has been visit ing at the home of her daugbter in Holdrege for the past two weeks, re turned home last Saturday and was met at Omaha by Mr. Lewis they then coming to Murray on -the bus and were met at Murray by Mr. A. G Cisney who brought them home. - C. R. Troop of Plattsmouth who has been confined to his home for some weeks past with a severe attack of Inflamatory rheumatism has so far recovered that he Is again able to be around and on last Sunday in company with Mrs. Troop were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs Will Kruger. Miss Hope Saint John departed last Monday for Omaha where she enrolled in the University hospital for a three year course as a nurse Miss' Hope was taken to Omaha by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Nutzman, they also looking after some business mat ters as well, they all making the trip in Mr. Nutzman's car. : W. T. Schlictemeier who has been in western-Kansas for the past, ten days where he has been looking af ter some . business jnatters returned honie- last Friday. Mr. Schlicte meier is thinking much of the coun try there where he. has some land but much more of Cass county and is willing to continue living here. F. M. Lemon and wife who have been visiting for the past six week at their old home of Osage, Minn. where they both have folks returned home last Sunday evening after hav ing had an excellent time. They came past Charles City, Iowa, where they also have some relatives.- The report that .hail did some daniag-j in points In Iowa. ' ' - "" J.r ft" Rough and wlfe.wno" have been in Iowa and Wisconsin for the past two weeks, returned home last Saturday evening and report a mo excellent time while away and say that they saw some of the most won derful country even equalling that of Nebraska which is the garden spot of the world. Harry Knabe, Nehawka, Neb Nehawka Loses Game The ball team of Nehawka went to Cedar Creek last Sunday and tried issues with the aggregation of that village with the result that they 0und Cedar Creek had something up their sleeves in the shape of a de feat for the visitors. The game was a lively one and both teams put up a good game and were nearly even at the close of the ninth inning. The result was Cedar Creek 9 and Ne hawka 7. CASS COUNTY PEIZE WINNEE Will Give Electrical Demonstration Mr. Theleen of the Nebraska Gas & ' Electric company of Platsmouth was in Nehawka last Monday and arranged a display of electric goods and appliances for the entire week, and rented the room in the W. A. Norris building just west of the Dale Harness shop where all kinds of elec tric appliances and devices for the saving of the work of the housewife will be on display and their uses ex plained and demonstrated during the enre week. Gayer was one of. the prize winning children at the Ne braska state fair at Lincoln the past week, Mary Ellen was awarded the second prize for rural children under eighteen months.
