Matt. 9:13. -:o: The number 13 is never use, by Italians in making up their lotteries. -:o: Mr. Lloyd George ha3 only Genoa on his hands. He might have had Ireland, too. -0:0- A Nebraska City girl wins the sweepstakes. She writes her name Emilinaline. -:o:- Most any man is good enough look ing if his face is shaved and his shoes shined. 0:0 For every man who would like to paint the town red there's one who would like to paint it blue. 0:0 Latin is a dead language, and it is a wonder English isn't too, the way it is murdered sometimes. -:o:- Suppose the man who committed 330 burglaries for his wife had beeu that other man with 13 wives. Nature cannot jump from winter to summer without a spring, or from summer to winter without a fall. -:o:- The newspaper's severest critic is the editor's wife, sometimes she even threatens to stop the paper. 0:0 Probably Sir Conan- Doyle thinks a country that will stand for Mar got Asquith will stand for mvthing. When John D. Rockefeller says it Is hard to give away a million, he is not speaking after having asked us. :o:- A fisherman found $10,000 on the banks of the Potomac. Maybe that's the dollar George threw across with interest. :o- A pM'sician asserts that anyone in need ..of. a. tonic-should- eat spinach, but where do you get spinach that has any alcohol in it? :o: In another month the capacity of the Ford plant will be a car every 6 1-2 seconds. Is a Ford customer born every 6 1-2 minutes? Of course a Philistine cannot see much in that "silent music" in New York, but there isn't much in a goo J deal of the noisy music of the period. The average man does not dislike so much to have the daylight knock ed out of him occassionally, as he does to be told something for Ms own good. :o: "Carload of .baicu hay turns out to be liquor." To say the truth is stranger than fiction is a truism, and to say that a bale of hay may turn out to be more entertaining than a bale of books would be guilty of the obvious. "It don't take a man long to bag hi3 pants at the knees, and to make a finely tailored suit look thoroughly disrepu table that's the man of it," avers Dainty Dorthy. But she goes on to explain that the man who is making use of our cleaning, steaming and pressing services is keep ing his clothes in much more presentable condition than when he got acquainted with us. And it doesn't cot;t much, either. Goods Called for and Delivered H I : i wmmmmmi 1 li phone ViTrrry 0:i0S,.xS. Ezek. 37:27. :o:- At that, money isn't as tight as Borne of its possessors. :o: When it comes to getting their perspiration beats inspiration. :o: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall never be out of work. :o:- The women seem to be more alive in politics in Cass county than the men. :o:- With bathing suits censored the waves will not be quite so wild this year. 0:0 Those who cry for the return of the long skirt must be in favor of dislegament. :o: Political movements are becoming quite lively everywhere outside of Cas3 county. New York had 91 murders in 93 days; the other two days, no doubt being holidays. -:o: A movie lasts 50 seconds. Their marriages, however, often last much longer than this. : o: This i3 the time to keep cool over the coal situation. Next winter will be time to get hot. :o:- It Is up to every citizen to active ly join In this movement of value of human life, this health prepared ness drive. Clean your own prem ises. That's your part. :o: Kansas has the reputation, but Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Indiana and several other great common wealths have most of the cyclones. Of course, they call them tornadoes to keep from infringing. :o: . Ford, Edison and Bryan are au thorities in their own fields, but they are out of their element vhen they undertake to tell the country what's what in departments where they are not informed. So the presi dent of Ripon college tells the Pres byterian Union at Chicago. Senator McCumber says he be lieves a way has been found to raise the soldiers' bonus without an in crease in taxes. But reading further, what sounds like a remarkable achievement of modern alchemy turns out to be the proceeds of col lections on our foreign debt. :o: Chairman Cordell Hull of tlie dem ocratic national committee has jus' completed a swing around tlu circle. He visited, he says, fourteen states in the middle west, and in each sfate ! he surveyed the political situation. 'And what do you think he took back to Washington with him? A demo cratic congress. :o: A queer case in Omaha last week. Otto Cole killed a pawnbroker, and I irl with i IdwrDi- qt rnnrln li ia own case Id court and on his own plea, escaped a death sentence. "His hearers," it was written, "were as tounded by his knowledge of law." Somebody usually Ij astounded when a knowledge of law is exhibited usually the learned one's client. :o: "Swat the Fly" and "Skeet the Skeeter" slogans have been used ev ! erywhere for years in the attempt to curb the activities of these dis ease carriers. But the campaign i which opens in Plattsmouth is far reaching in its efforts to have the yards and surroundings of the homes thoroughly cleaned. It depends en tirely upon the support of the own ers of the homes as to the success of the movement. :o:- The writer has been in politics a great many years and in the re sult of many elections we have been sadly disappointed. We have long tdnce learned not to count the chick ens before they were hatched. Na tionally speaking, there are a great many surmises made as to the re sult of the election next fall. The lower branch of congress is over whelmingly republican, and to such an extent that it would be almost a ; miracle if it can be overcome. Not withstanding the acts of the present congress have been greatly con demned by the democratic party, as well as many, republicans. The only way that this can be done is by the effort of a united democratic party. V . . . . See F. G. EGENBERGER FOR American Live Stock Insurance!
