Rauth received word last week of the illness of a sister, who makes her home at Iowa Falls, Iowa, which required the services of a surgeon in an operation, but from which the sister, Mrs. Harry Clark, is now recovering and doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schliefert entertained on Easter at their home for the day and dinner a number of their friends, among whom were Mr. and Mrs. Theo Harms and children, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Reicke and daughter, Miss Bertha, and Herbert SchHefert. Parish House Catches Fire The Parish house of the St. Pat rick Catholic church in Manley on last Friday caught fire with the re sult that a portion of the roof was burned. The citizens of Manley, with heroic effort were able to sub due the flames before a considerable damage was done. However, the damage was extensive enough that a new roof was required. This time asbestos shingles were used in cover- in? the house and were placed on the structure by Messrs. John Fleisch man and Herman Stohlman. Will Play Eall This Year. Manley, the place where they play good ball and where they always have an excellent team, had a base ball meeting last Friday and arrang ed for the coming season. They elect ed the officers who did such effective work last year, they being Teddy Harms, manager; Wm. J. Rau, treas urer; Rudolph Bergman, secretary; O. K. Coon, marshal and Wm. Heeb ner as caretaker of the ball park. They have on abundance of talent from which to select, but are also looking for one who is above the average in ability as a player.
