JSoys Clothes 1 'A Here is a little salesmanship to use on "Ma." You al ways come Irtst she bought for the whole family at the "Circus," and vou come last. She She dragged you around for the past six months for that suit. You know what she said when she found your suit would cost $15 to $30 "ycu can wait." It's true your suits cost money, and as you're just boys you can lump it. School is going to start again some of these days. Have yo j decent clothes clothes like the other kids? You know you'll need that new suit then. We are looking out for you, if you will get busy and come in and spot one then tell mothei you picked it out of a bunch of 50 and they are exceptionally low priced at $9.50 and $10.00 you'll no doubt get the suit. 25 Reduction on Straw Hats OveralU $2.50 MEN'S SUITS REDUCED TO $23.00 $33.00 $42.00 Much can be learned by comparing a backward country like China, with a forward country like America. The natural resources of China are as great, if not greater, than those of America. Numerically, the man power of China is greater. But as far as physical development is con cerned, China is a century behind America. Why is this? What is the force that is lacking in China and pres ent in America? The answer, as we see it, is that China has produced no Rockefellers, no Hills, no Carnegies no Fultons, no Harrimans, no talsons, no Schwabs in other words no leaders of industry. China is practically without rail roads, steamboats, good roads, farm machinery, or any of the modern de vices for multiplying the power of man. China has muscle-power, but apparently she has no generals. She has the raw materials, but she has no men to direct their fabricaticn into finished products. What would any or the men we have named above be worth to China? Would they be wroth a mil lion each, ten million each? There is just one answer to this question: These men of foresight and daring are so rare that their value cannot be estimated. No one can say in dollars what is the value of the contribution of McCormick to the farming industry. In a single year the farmer of this country de rives more profit from his reapef than the inventor accumulated in a life time. A great inventor, a great discov erer, a great organizer, a great de veloper may put money into his pockets in the process of pushing the world forward, but this is not money that he has taken from the pockets of others. It is wealth which he has created and while he is creating it he is filling the pockets of thousands of others. A Rockefeller in China might take a hundred million tor nimseir. ttui in the process of getting it he would put a billion into the hands of the people of China. An Alexander Bell might accumu late a fortune of a million, but his invention would add many times that sum to the wealth of China. Because an inventor, a scientist or a business man has more money than I have does not mean that he has taken anything from me. In most cases he has made two blades of grass grow where only one grew be fore he has created opportunities for industry and wealth that did not exist before, and everybody is bet ter off because of his success. She is subject to change without no tice. :o: Faper manufacturer requires the destruction of 9.500 acres of forest daily. :o: The democrats expect to get back into the White house with a "Jim mie." :o: Did you ever notice how much X V I some people can talk, very much. rev- without saying Of the 400,000 Japanese living out side their native land, 130,000 are in the United States. :o: "It seems funny", said the mother of the third party nominee when told that her son had been chosen as candidate fo rpresident. It is worse than funny; it is downright sad. :o: "What used to be spent on the home is now spent on the automo bile," says an exchange. Well, the auto has this advantage if you don't like v'our neighbors you can move away. :o: The mother of Parley P. Christen sen, nominated for president by the new Farmer-Labor party, says he al ways was a bright boy. But prob ably not as bright a boy as Senator LaFollette who declined the nomina tion. :o: When the radicals of the third party threaten to form a fourth party because the already radical leaders of the third party are too standdpatu ous, doesn't it make us old party men feel awfully moss-padded?
