While engaged in some work in
the shop yards Saturday afternoon.
Charles S. Johnson, yardmaner of
the Uurlington in this city, suffered
a pevere dislocation of the rijtht
.shoulder that will lay him up for
some time. .Mr. Johnson was stand
ing on one of the platforms in the
upper shop yard as the switch
engine came along and he essayed
to step from the platform to the
running board of the engine. As he
stepped on to the engine he was
jerked in such p manner as to
wrench the shoulder and cause the
fracture. Mr. Johnson was at or.ee
hurried to the office of the company
surgeon wiiere the should'-r war
dresed and the victim of the acci
dent made as comfortable ,as pi.s
sible.

from his long absence in the army.

France, having been with the 10th
Field artillery band, in the Third
division, doing guard duty along the
Rhine and seeing that the former
subjects of the kaiser did not violate
the armistice terms. Prior to being
ordered to France Clarence was with
the 134th infantry band at Iteming,
New Mexico, while his division was
held there in case of the Mexican
trouble becoming acute, and after
reaching France, Mr. Staats was
given quite an opportunity ol see
ing tne (litlerent parts ot tnat coun
try, having been assigned with the
band to the different rest areas and
base hospitals for concerts. After
the breaking up ot his unit, he was
sent to the third division and re
mained there tint il reaching the
I'nittd States, when he was sent to
Camp Dodge, Iowa. for discharge
