Joseph Vlois who has been iu the rerviee and stationed at Camp Hodge for a long time, being there from his former h'ome at les Moines, was mustered out of the service last Sat urday, and arrived hero during the liht. Saturday ecniing to Pacific Junction and having to walk ov:t on the bridge. Mr. Vlois is a son-in-law of A. S. Henett and wife of this city, and Mrs. Vlois. is making her home here just now. C, the last week, I did not got to write. The wounded men are com ing in rapidly and we are working in the hospitals here. I worked one night from 7 p. m. to 7 a. m. and at 10:00 a. id. left on a hospital train with men that had been gassed, tak ing them to a hospital in tiie moun tains, near Asheville. which is in the heart of the Ulue Itidge mountains in North Carolina. It was a rice trip, but it was work all the way r-o not much time to look at the scenery. We got back Monday and I have been working in a contagious ward since. However I don't think there will be any chance of getting away for a few months. I am in fine health and hope you are the same, also Pad and -i.Mer. Yesterday Pavid Hankinion. who has ben at a hospital at Omaha, for some time past on account of,a Mas toid tumor, forming in his head f n n th Influenza, it was nacessary to perform the second operation for his relief. One was removed from the base of the brain, cn the left side about a week ago. and Sunday ar operation was performed for the re moval of one on the right side. J. Vlcek. d liverinsr the funt-ra: oration, and savins; the last sad rites over the remains of one of the finest women who has lived in Plattsmouth. Mrs. Xemetz who lived in this city for a Ions; time, was for the paft few years in not the best of health, and their niovinsr to Omaha was that they micht be where they would b ab'e to receive better accomodation-! for her treatment, as Plattsiijouth had no hosptal. Ths lady st ruireled acain the ill health. v,-ith her wor'; and interests in life, but with the lat operation her strength hpvin.; been sapped, the .'trucrie wa.s nn equal. and when the strength failed and the call of the death. A turd came, she was also ready to answer the call to a higher and better lit. in the world beyond. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery west of Hk city, where they await for the re vivification at the sounding of the last trump.
