At Cosmopolitan club last evening
at their rooms, held a farewell meet
ing for one of their members, Mr.
Edward Ofe, the occasion being the
eve of his departure for Lincoln,
v. bore he is taking up special train
ing for military service. The mem
bership of this club which has been
Trer.t'y diminished by the going of
its members to the service, was all
who have not already gone in at
tendance. A delightful time was
had, atfid a supper like many a one
which hai been given to departing
members was truly a feast. Robert
Rebal was t lie toastmaster, and many
were the responses at the witty re
partee of the members. As a token
of their friendly feeling and esteem
in which he is held a present of a
wrist watch was made.
13 VISITING IN MICHIGAN.

Robert B. Windham has been
visiting in the east for some time
past, at the place, where he lived
when a boy near Ann Arbor, Michi
gan, the p!;ice where ho graduated
from the law school, and first started
in the practice of law. Mr. Wind
ham was going on farther east, but
his daughter Ellen, who makes her
home at Ncnia. Ohio, will join him
in Michigan and come to "Plattsmouth
for a visit.

Mrs. M. B. Allen just received a
letter from her son Ralph who is in
the battle line in France, in which
he tells of just having returned from
the fir.st trendies, and that all the
boys from here were all right at the
writing, which was May 21st. He
says that the boys are just now,
m;:ny of tiicm getting their service
stripes. Those who have been in
the foreign service get for the left
cuff, a gold V shaped band for the
left arm. an additional-one for each
six months service. The bar having
the point upward, while those who
have been wounded, are given a
straight hvr on the right arm. and
frr signal victory a V shaped bar on
the right arm but inverted which
moans 'V for victory. He is sending
a pojtal car which he used for a
practice test, in shooting. fifteen
shots at CO yards, and in which
there are ten holes. The card will
be placed in the window of the Jour
nal office.

E. H. Wescott received a letter
this morning from C. A. Spacht, the
teacher of athletics, in the llicdi
School last year, who has since hav
ing closed the term of school tie
parted for the Great Lakes where
he is now in training for the Navy.
Professor Spacht, before going went
to his home for a short visit, return
ing enlisted at Omatia and was sent
to the Great Lakes, where he is at
this time.
CELEBRATE THEIR
WOODEN WEDDING

Night before last there was cele
brated at the home of Oscar Wit
son and wife, the event of their mar
riage five years ago. by many of
their friends, who came to assist in
the celebration. There were many
amusements, and a delightful course
luncheon wns served. Many useful
presents were given, for which the
happy couple expressed their thanks

Wilson, Mrs. Dr. O. Sandin and
little daughter, a Miss Wilson from
Red Oak, a niece of Mr. Wilson, the

CORRECTION ORDERS RECEIVED
From Friday's Daily.
The two calls, one G58, and the
ether 674, which were for thirty-one
men each, to go to t'arip Functon
and Ft. Riley. Thoc calls exhaust
ed the available men in Class one and
a. few hart to be drawn from this
class which were to have been al
lowed to remain cn the farm until
after harvest. A correction has come
which puts tho number now of each
call to 30. instead of 31. the board
will take the harvest deferment from
the list, which were added a few days
since.

From Friday's Daily.
Dwight Prcpst last evening depart
ed over the Burlington for the Great
Lakes Training Station, where he
enters the navy for active training
for service in the United States ser
vice. Dwight has been on the wait
ing list for some time having enlist
cd and taking his examination weeks
since, and was waiting until such a
time as he could get located. A
short time since the call came and
last night he departed for the Lakes
for training. .
