A Utter received yesterday, writ ten on April 3rd, from just behind the lines in France, tells of how the 1'oys from here are farinsr. Yesterday afternoon and evenin the ladies of the aid society of the Evangelical church, in this city, held a coffee social, at the home of Mrs. Wm. Hassler. A charge 'of fifteen cents was made for the admission, and with the other things, a center piece, was raffled off which had been made by Mrs. II. K. Roessler, was won by her daughter Miss ITattie Roessler, who immediately gave it back and it will be raffled off again. Weyrich and Hadraba donated tho use of their Edison talking machine for the entertainment of tho large crowd who were in attendance. The amount realized for the Rid Cross was about eighty dollars. The ladies of the society desire to extend their thanks for those who patronized the social, and the merchants who donated supplies for the service of the coffee and coffee cake, dough nuts and other things. IS MOVING TO PLATTSTIOUTir. From Friday's paily. Earl Cline who has been working at St. Mary's Mo., for a construction company during the winter came here a few days since, and after look ing around thought it would be bet ter to live some place, than to have to follow the contractors Avherever they went, rented the house of Mrs. C. A. Bergrcn and secured a position in the Burlington shops, and is mov ing into the new home today, and will begin working tomorrow. Thus is added another family to the city. About one hundred more pcop'.e can find profitable employment in the Burlington shops at this time. FLORENCE VALLERY VERY PICK. From Friday's Dally. Mrs. J. R. Vallery departed this afternoon for Omaha, whore she goes to visit with her daughter at the hospital at that place, where she was operated upon for appendicitis some time since, and was not feeling so well for the last few days. The people in charge of the hospiral has telephoned to Mr. Vallerj-, the con dition of the daughter was not so well. Both Mr. and Mrs. Vallery came with the intention of going, but another phone call reported con siderable improvement, and Mr Val lery who is very busy returned home and Mrs. Vallery went to see the daughter. RETRNS TO HIS DUTIES AT CAMP From Friday's Daily. Last evening Earnest Stenner and wife departed for- Ilavelock. where they are visiting at the home of Mrs Stenner's sister Mrs. Louie Janda, where they will visit until tomorrow when they will depart for Camp Funston. and will from there go to some other place, but just where is not known. EUXBURY BROTHERS LEAVE ON NO. 2 YESTERDAY AFTER FOR GREAT LAKES High School Students, at Station to Show Apreciation of Service of ' Fellow Classmates. From Krklay's Daily. Yesterday afternoon as the llux bury brothers, Aubrey and Marion, left for the east on No. 2, bound for the Great Lakes naval station, to enter training at the radio station, takin; up a course in wireless tele graphy, they were given a merry farewell at the station by their many friends here. The boys add two more to the list of high school boys who have enter ed the service of the nation and two additional stars appear on the High school service flag by reason of their oing. They were accompanied to the train by the members of the var ious classes in the high school, with a nana ana witn nags llying, and the boys and girls united in grand style to give the various school and class yells. The brothers, who are fine speci mens of young manhood, bold a high place of esteem in the hearts of their many menus, who were pleased to demonstrate their expectation of the things these young men will do on the occasion of their departure yes terday. They have grown to man hood in this city, and their actions have endeared them to the school, to thctr teachers, and to the public generally. Yesterday afternoon tho cozy Rec torj' of St. Luke's parish was the scene of a delightful afternoon party. This was in the nature of a farewell for Mrs. J. E. McDaniel, who will soon remove from this city to Cali fornia, where the McDaniel family will reside in the future and was given by the officers and directresea of St. Mary's Guild, assisted by Rev. W. S. Leete, Mrs. Leeto and Madame Leete. Mrs. McDaniel has been a member pf this splendid organi'.a tion ever since coming to this city to make her home, also, has been a very earnest worker In the church circles of St. Luke's parish. For the occasion the pretty rooms of the Rec tory had been made very attractive with the generous use of plum blos soms and other spring flowers. Inter mingled with flag decorations Var ious amusements had been planned for the entertainment of tho guests and the one which'took up the great er portion of the afternoon and in which much interest was manifested, was the Life Rook. Each lady was given the name of one of the guests and a booklet. Each lady was given the name of one of the guests and a booklet of blank pages, as well as pictures clipped from magazines. There pictures were to be placed in this booklet thus illustrating the life of the guest they were to represent. In this contest, Mrs. McDaniel re ceived the first prize on her book, il lustrating the life of Mrs. George Thomas. Miss Rarbara Gering was presented with the second prize on her book for Mrs. Edith Donclan. A Life Rook was, also, made for Mrs. C. V. Raylor, a former member of St. Mary's Guild and this book will be mailed to her in the nea' future. A few moments were then devoted to a very pleasant social tunc and then the hostesses and ho:t served a dainty luncheon, which materially added to the pleasures of the after noon. District Trallic Chief of the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph company, entertained the Pliittsmouth telephone operators at a very delicious four-course dinner on Wednesday evening at the Wag ner restaurant. The table was decorated with red carnations and at each plate was a U. S. tent. Patriotic songs were sung and and short talks were given by Geo. K. Gann, Traffic Superintendent of the Lincoln T. & T. Co; R. O. Tarks, Dist. Traffic Chief of the "Southern district and W. I. Kimball, District Traffic Chief of the eastern district. These talks were greatly enjoyed by all. Covers were laid for the Misses Irene Pendl, Grace Paxton, Anna S'e vers, Ilulda Goos, Marguerite Por ter, Blanche Ladner, Sehna Hansen, Mrs. Pearl Mayfield, Mr. and Mrs. W. I Kimball, Mr. and Mrs. George K. Gann and Master Earnest Gann. Such get-together meetings as this cannot help but result in closer re latior.s between the operators who work together in the service of the telephone patrons, end are very ad vantageous for the "good of the ser vice."
