Rev.-Hargett who went to Augus
ta, Kentucky, with the body, of his
mother from Kansas City, where she
died last Tuesday, for burial will not
be able to return home in time for
services by Sunday. The Elders of

vice which shall consist of religious
patriotic addreses by a number of

which will breathe patriotism and
Christian service.
AT FORD HOSPITAL IN OMAHA.
From Friday's Daily.
P. T. Walton departed this morn
ing for Omaha, where he is visiting
at the 'Ford Hospital where Mrs.
Walton's daughter Mrs. Lena Han
nuni is, receiving treatment and
where she will have to undergo an
operation for appendicitis, which is
a peculiar case, having adhesions as
well as an aggravated case of ap
pendicitis, which makes the case one
of more gravity.
MET WITH MRS. BARCLAY
From Friday's Dally.
The Spizzerinktum club of ladies
enjoyed a most pleasant meeting at
the home of Mrs. William Barclay
yesterday afternoon, nearly a full
attendance of the members being
present. As these ladies always do,
so yesterday did they enjoy them
selves to the limit of enjoyment. At
a suitable hour Mrs. Barclay served
delicious refreshments consisting of
sandwiches, coffee, pickles and de
lightfully home-made cream pie,
such as only Mrs. Barclay knows
how to bake. As usual, a large
number of the men folk took din
ner down town last evening.
WILL TRY 48 ACRES OF CORN.
From Friday's Dally.
Notwithstanding the return-t-g
high waters of the Missouri river,
those who have acquired land on
the river bottom, are getting ready
to try a go with the 'Big Muddy'
again this season. W. J. Hartwick
is now preparing to put in 4S acres
of corn, and will give it a good
hard tussle for a crop, and if the
river docs not cause him to much
trouble will make a good crop on
the land which he has acquired. The
land is rich, and will bring the coin
should the water not drown it out,
and the only way to raise the crop
is to go after it and do one's best,
leaving the other matter to the river.
HIS DAUGHTER AT HOSPITAL
From Friday"? Daily.
J. Dee Shrader of Omaha, former
ly of this city and Murray, came in
this afternoon from Omaha, and is
looking after some business here for
the afternoon. Mr. Shrader has just
disposed of the Hotel St. James,
which he has been conducting for
some time past and has gone out of
business. He ran down here to look
after some business this afternoon,
but had to get back this afternoon,
as he has a daughter Miss Margery,
who is at the St. Joseph Hospital,
where she has been treated for peri
tonitis. While she has beeu very
sick she is showing good improve
ment at this time, and it is hoped
that she will be able to leave the in
stitution in the near future.
If I Were a Farmer.
. If 1 were a farmer 1 would keep at
hand a few reliable medicines for
minor ailments that are not so ser
ious as to require the attention of a
physician, such as Chamberlain's
Colic and Diarrhoea Remedy for
bowel complaints.
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for
coughs, colds and croup.
Chamberlain's Liniment for
sprains, bruises and rheumatic pains.
Chamberlain's Tablets for stomach
troubles, biliousness and constipa
tion. By having these articles at hand
it would orten save the trouble of a
trip to town in the busiest season or
in the night, and would enable me
to treat slight ailments as soon as
they appear, and thereby $void the
more serious diseases that so often
follow.

pride does not all come on the side
of the young man, for there is a man
many years older who is also proud
of the little son. Not saying any

he looks pretty pleasant as well.

GRINDS ALFALFA MEAL
WITH AN AUTOMOBILE
t'Yinn Ti;i.rsi!;: y:s laily.
J. P. Falter and son. John YY.
Falter, have cn their farm, an
falfa meal mill, where they grind
up the alfalfa hay into the leak,
with a set of burrs, making -the or
dinary alfalfa mpal, which is being
fed to their slock on the farm, with
the best of success. They have a
Ford auto rigged to do the work of
grinding, it being one of the attach
incuts which is being considered at
this time as offering promising re
turns through being manufactured
in this city. The device is of such
nature that after it has been attach
ed for such use as this, it can be left
right on the car while it is being
driven over the country, or it can be
easily detached if even that is de
sired although there is no occasion
for it. The Ford car, by reason of
being about the lightest car and al
so through its universality, offers a
wide field for the attachment to be
applied upon, and at the same time
furnishes plenty of power to. operate
almost any farm machinery imagin
able.- A larger car, upon which the
attachment, could also be applied,
would, of course, supply more power
if that were desired.
