Platte, who has been visiting in this
city lor some time with her sister,
both departed this atlernoon for
North Platte where Mrs. Swart out
will visit with her sister for some
time.
Herman Smith and wife with their
children came up last evening from
their home near Xehawka, and visit
ed wiih Mrs. Smith's parents J. S.
Hall and wife and looked after some
business matters as well, returning
home later in the evening.
Judge J. T. Begley, If. A. Sehnied
er. C- A. Itawls and L.uke Li. Vv'iles
were visitors at Weeping Water this
afternoon going in a car, to attend
the Mass Meeting which is being
held there in the interest cf getting
the help which the public is doing
for the different organizations groop
ed under one head, that a more uni
form system can be adopted.

Mrs. Certie Beckuer from west of
Mynard was a passenger to Omaha
this morning, where she is receiving
treatment at a hospital.
Joe L. Thompson, of Oreapolis. the
brid?;enian, was a visiior in Platts
mouth for a few hours today look
ing alter some trading.
B. F. Dill of South Bend was ex
cused from the jury for the ;emaind
er of the term, and departed last
evening for his home.
Wm. M. Hoover of Louisville who
has been in the city for the past few
days as a member of the jury, de
parted this morning for his home.
CI en Thompson from some ten
miles south of this city was in the
city today" taking the examination
before the local exemption board.
George Beichart, one of the jurors
who has been serving for the past
week on the district court departed
for his home last evening to Louis
ville. Ram O. Huckenberg of Cedar
Creek was a visitor in the city yes
terday, and was looking after some
business and returned home last
evening.
Mrs. Soph is Barkening arrived in
this city this morning from her
home near Cedar Creek and will visit
with her parents Mr. and Mrs. M.
Hild for the slay.
Wm. Coat ma n of Weeping Water
departed this morning for his home
after having been in this city for the
past few days service on the jury in
the district court.
John. P.outh, of Manley, who has
been attending the district court as
a jurcr departed last evening for his
home, being excused from service for
the remainder of the court.
J. K. Wood, who has been home
for the past few weeks, recuperating
from a rpel! of sickness, which he
contracted while in the navy. Mr.

Charles Vanscoye of Louisville who
has been attending the district court

for his home this afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Green of Louis
ville arrived in this city this morn
ing coining to visit with Mrp. Green's
father, John Kenner who has just
returned from Leavenworth, Kansas.
Web. L. Itussell of Weeping Water
accompanied by his friend Ed. Noell
was in the citj' looking after some
business in this city and were taking
examinations before the local board.
Phillip Hirs today shipped one of
the sale of hogs, which he sold a few
days since when he had a hog sale,
the price being $7".00, the purchase
being made by L. Davidson of Louis
ville. Charles Murphy of Mauley, de
parted this morning for Omaha, af
ter having been in this city for the
past week has been serving as a
juror, and from Omaha, he will go
to his home.
Willie Weyrich and wife of Sand
Prairie, Illinois, arrived from their
home this evening coming via Om
aha and were met at their place by
their cousin, George M. Hild. They
will visit here for some time.
Mesdames J. R. Lee and Jesse G.
Lee. the latter whose home is at
Sheridan, AVyoming, were passeng
ers to Omaha and Council Bluffs this
afternoon, where they will visit with
friends for the day and from where
Mrs. Jesse G. Lee will tm tomorrow
depart for her home at Sheridan,
while Mrs. J. U. L-e will return
home after a few clays v'sit.
With the excusing of the jury at
the conclusion of the case of the
Western Machine and Foundry Com
pany against Joseph. P.. P.umniorfield
and others, they departed for their
homes. Mont Robb one of the num

the editor of this paper after having
concluded his v.vrh. and spent a
short time in a pie .is ant visit before

Karl Hackenhcrg and Henry Wat
son came in this morning from their

ltor in Plattsmouth last evening,
staying over night to attend the
meeting of the County Defense coun
cil which is being held today.
Louis Langhorst, of .Klmwood, was
a visitor in this city today, lookin
after some business in regard to the
meeting of the County Defense conn-

. G. E. Dorsey of Louisville and J. S.
Eager of the same place were in the
city today, taking their examination
before the local board and departed
for
Omaha after having gotten
through with their business here.
C. G. Davis of Weeping Water was
a visitor in this city coming to take
his physical examination before the
local board, and later departing for
Omaha, where he went to enlist in
the navy of the United States.
Judson Weaver and John Timm,
canio in yesterday from their home
at South Bend, to look after their
questionnaires and to take the phy
sical examination before the local
board, and returned home last night.
Eric E. Averland,- of Omaha came?
down this morning from his home to
take the physical examination before
the lcKal exemption board. Mr. Aver
land registered from Greenwood last
June and has been asignd to Class
one. . ' "
Edward Dowler, Troy and Frank
Davis and J. SI. and I. W. Teagarten
all of Weeping Water, were over in
a car today to attend the meeting of
the County Defense League, which is
being held ft the Wagner hotel to
day.
Mrs. R. V Ford of South Bend
was a visitor in this city for the day
coining to do some trading this morn
ing and returning this afternoon, and
also visiting at the home of her
daughter Mrs. A. B. Hess of Oreap
olis, while here as well.
Mrs. J. M. Reasner of Kirkwood
Illinois, who has been visiting with
her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Fred Reas
ner and parents at the county farm
Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Tarns, the effi
cient superintendent of that institu
tion, departed for her home in the
east this morning. Mrs. Reasner
also visited with her son in Omaha
and yesterday with his wife came to
Plattsmouth for a short visit before
returning to her home.
S. C. Bovks of Alvo was a busi
ness visitor in Plattsmouth yesterday
afternoon, cornintr via Omaha, and
was accompanied by Mrs. Christen
sen. who was over to see after the
matter of the settlement of the es
tate of her late husband, and dpart
